I agree with the thought process here, but if they are open to trading out of the 2nd round and back into the late 1st round why not use #12 on a QB if you like one? They can still use that late 1st round pick to go get a WR, DT, etc. That mid to late 1st round seems to be where the most value is this year.I could see a trade up with the 2nd pick if someone is there at the end ofnthe round
.....unless they're thinking that a 3rd place finish in the East would be more interesting if Shadeur was brought in here and just wanted to see the 4th ring of this circusAny fan who wants the Cowboys to take a QB with their first pick in this draft has completely lost it.
ZeroI'm curious, what are the odds of the cowboys moving up if sanders is available at pick 8, or drafting dart at 12. To me those are the only capable qbs of starting besides cam, but he won't be available. And to be honest this is a good year to draft a qb because he can sit for a yr or 2 and learn, also when was the last time dak played a whole season without getting hurt. So Saunders or dart would be a great backup qb and insurance for when dak gets hurt.
Don't get me wrong Fivetwos, you're absolutely right in how you're looking at this....BUT....I will say if they were to go QB in this draft it would make the most sense to me to get one in the 1st round just because of the 5th year option. I'm very skeptical it happens, but it's probably the smartest way to go about it if this player is supposed to be the eventual replacement for Dak. It's possible they could move on from Dak in three years and still have two years of control over the new guy.I feel as if I say this four times a day…
It is TOO SOON to draft Daks successor.
That player will be walking out the door at the same time Dak is, and will only get the reps they need if Dak gets hurt…even in that case they didn’t do it with Lance last year.
What kind of plan is that?
They didn’t pay Cousins near what Dak is being paid.Atlanta paid Cousins and THEN drafted Penix so it's not impossible.
But with Dallas it's as close to impossible as you can get considering who's calling the shots.
About 14% chance with a move down in 1st for DartI'm curious, what are the odds of the cowboys moving up if sanders is available at pick 8, or drafting dart at 12. Fair point, but I think the more shocking part about the Atlanta move was they needed help in other places after getting Cousins. It's the primary argument that people are using for Dallas not to draft a QB early....they have other needs they can use that pick with. It's a very fair argument, but every few years we see teams taking the unexpected QB. Similar situation with Love/Rogers where I think everyone was sure that GB was going to take a skill player to give Rogers another weapon that year. GB even extended Rogers at $50M per year two years after drafting love. They didn’t pay Cousins near what Dak is being paid.

Jerry once had Johnny's card in his hand so if Sanders is there it's a possibility. Depends who's going to talk him out of it.I'm curious, what are the odds of the cowboys moving up if sanders is available at pick 8, or drafting dart at 12.
