What are we doing with Jourdan Lewis?

He could save $5 million in a cut.

He's coming off injury and is basically a slot guy at this point. But we have a cheaper, maybe better option in Bland. With Brown likely gone, I really hope they aren't thinking of putting Lewis or Bland outside opposite Diggs.

Can he even clear a physical at this time?
I think they may bring him back and see how he looks in camp. Figure out his fate prior to week 1 before his salary gets guaranteed due to being a vet.

He's a potential cut ....depending on CAP need. If we were determined to sign a number of FA's I'm sure he'd of been cut....so I suppose he's borderline cut.

He will start TC on PUP if he is kept. That is what this team usually does.
Since he is injured, I believe they just can't release him. They will need to reach an injury settlement.
Crap, I keep forgetting he's still injured.

I think Bland would be great out there. Personally I think they use a pick in the first two rounds on a corner and let Lewis walk.

1. There is absolutely no reason you let him go

2. He’s always been just a slot guy. That’s never not been the case.

3. Bland starts outside and Lewis inside. Lewis is one of the best slot cbs in the nfl. No thanks on cutting him.

No reason to cut him now. They require 3 "starters" at CB but they only have 2. They could play Lewis as the Nickel CB with Bland outside if needed.

Obviously they'll attempt to add 1 or more CBs in the offseason but until a proven 3rd CB is available they might as well keep Lewis (unless Lewis is not expected to recover in time for training camp).

If Lewis is healthy he's an affordable slot option.

Right now it looks like the Cowboys will need DaRon Bland outside opposite Diggs.

Lewis stay hurt too much for my liking. Put that 5 Million towards Patrick Peterson and keep developing Bland

Even before the injury his running looked labored (Scandrick esq)… think it’s time to move on!

Agree, him and Gallimore probably survive fa, but could be released after the draft depending both they get.

I really don’t get the Jourdan Lewis love. That 5 million in savings could be much better spent on something other than an undersized slot player with inconsistent coverage skills coming off a lisfranc injury, especially when you found his replacement in the 5th round.

They need another boundary corner who can press. Bringing back Lewis doesn’t move the needle at all.

People often just rush too much to cut decent players *when no guaranteed money is due".
You cut players when there's some cost to *not* cutting them, and not before. Until then, you keep the free option in your pocket.
