Is anybody as annoyed as i am that we are a couple of days away from free agency but have not made any moves or at least have nothing new to discuss? I see teams cutting players, restructuring them, assigning tenders, or being connected as destinations for big free agents. For us, its been maybe we cut carr, maybe we restructure crawford/tyron, maybe we resign mo/rolando but no real moves yet. I know we're not going to sign a bunch of big names but usually around this time you see us connected to a few key free agents ( even if its a negotiating ploy), not minor names like pacman or adrian clayborn.

What do you think is going on behind those doors? Are we really not going to do much or are we just doing alot of stuff behind the scenes thats about to fall into place?

Even if we cut Carr he may not be released until Training Camp. There is no hurry to restructure players.

And there are only so many players we are going to re-sign of our own, and they very well may want to test free agency.

Only players I'm looking to see if we re-sign

- McClain
- Hardy
- Claiborne
- Crawford
- Hanna
- Dunbar

why should they tell anyone who they are planning to sign? And no need to cut anyone now, we are well under cap. Carr is much better released post June

Do they ever really tell anyone who they are going to sign? Its usually the media or agents leaking info but its just strange we haven't heard anything.

As for carr, why wait to release him? If we release him now, we can still designate him as a post june cut. Most teams that plan on doing that do it ahead of time so it allows the player a chance to latch on to another team early. We did it with marcus spears a few years back

I think they'll be players in the FA DE market. Not only talking about backup types like Clayborn. They're likely losing Hardy, Lawrence is coming off back surgery, Gregory is already missing 4 games and one misstep from a lengthy suspension and Mincey who they already wanted to upgrade is a FA. Can't see them heading to the draft without adding a good starting type player at DE.

Every year people get all excited over free agency and ALMOST every year, the Cowboys remain status quo. Jerry talks himself into believing that the team can win with who they have, that they're closer than they really are, or that Romo has 4 or 5 good years left. This year will be no different. I do agree with Jerry that they shouldn't spend a lot of money on name recognition players. I've always felt that a superstar in one system could be average in another. You have to draft and sign the right FA players for your system. That's what builds a championship team that will compete for years. Whether anyone wants to admit it, this team has ALOT of needs and it's not going to get fixed this year alone. Romo will not be winning a SB here people. his time is game by game, not year by year. Does it really matter whether we draft a QB, RB, DL, etc at #4? All that matters is that they make that choice someone who will contribute to this team for years to come.....

Good read.....

Feel the same way....I expect we are gonna do nothing like we did in 2008. All this talk about how we were close...and we were gonna go out and open up the wallet....Jerry's gonna spend big...bla bla bla. And we ended up doing nothing

Good points. But no need to release Carr until we sign or draft a replacement IMO. You just decrease your bargaining power with free agent CBs if you have only one starter on the roster (OScan).

Dallas is going In with a worse team than 2014 thinking they'll win it all.

They would be doing Carr a disservice if they waited to cut him. They may not like the results but Carr has been a stand-up guy.

I want him gone but there is still a right way to do things.

Right. And that offseason we thought the same as this one, that we stink, etc and thanks to Demarco and health 12-4!

If we are not getting Hardy back we must IMO go after Mario. If we go into a season with Dlaw, Gregory for 12 games (and we still don't know if he's an everydown DE) and maybe a Mincy and Clayborn signing good luck with that!

If that's the case I hope we are picking either Zeke or Henry because that's the only formula that has worked in JG's tenure.

I can't wait for this weekend. All the gnashing and grinding of teeth because the Cowboys have signed no free agents the first weekend of free agency. It happens every year. The last time I remember a big name free agent signed early for the Cowboys was Brandon Carr, and we see how that worked out. If you are expecting something this weekend, you will be disappointed, plus you will be grumpy because you will be losing an hour of sleep Saturday night.
They will be bottom feeders again in free agency. Probably sign a couple of DL castoffs who either aren't very good or are often injured.

The team was12-4 a couple years ago. They have an injury prone QB that is going to play another five years, great RBs such as DMac and the great playmaker Dunbar, one WRvon the roster that can make plays, exactly why should they be making any moves?
