What are we going to do with Al Johnson?

I feel like it is a waste having him on the bench. As I said before we all know that depth is important, but we're not even settled on the starting line.

Do we try and move him to guard? Perhaps play Gurode at guard and start Johnson at center (probably not). Or do we trade him? There were a few teams reportedly interested in picking him up.

I know I don't really want to give up on him, especially given that just because you sit for a year doesn't mean you aren't good. Hell Gurode was on the bench most of last year.

Well we might be able to get as high as a 3rd round draft pick for him. Might as well shore up our starting lineup before worrying about JUST depth.

How can we trade a guy who is going to be an unrestricted FA?

Some of it will probably depend on how EJ Whitley looks over the off-season. I believe he played some center at Texas Tech.

He's a good, not great, center, and he's better than most centers we could draft in the first and second round. We need to keep him until/unless another Damien Woody comes along.

David.

Depth is important. We are one bad injury away from Johnson starting at Center.

Now seeing that he is a free agent at the end of the year, obviously he is going to get more money on the free agent market, unless we're going to move him to guard.

We'd be lucky to get a 7th for him.

Bill is letting you make roster decisions now ?

I just dont even know why be concerned about having talent on the bench, he's already had to come in and play one half of a game. There are many others things to worry about then a decent 2nd string center sitting on bench.

and the initial question is funny. like any of us fans can do anything anyway.

We as in the Dallas Cowboys, not we as in members of the front office. Think about it...

And if you've read just because you want a player on the bench doesn't mean that is what interests them...

He's a FA, we'll make him a decent offer and he'll probably look for something better.

What he said. We won't offer a lot because he really isn't much better than a backup. He may take it, may not. We aren't going to put out a bunch of cash to keep him though.

I still don't get the fan love for the guy - he was really, really poor last year.
