Most of the time when we are picking in the late first, unless there is great value on the board, we should always be looking to do one of those trades where we drop down into the second but get a next year's #1 pick off of some team that has fallen in love with a player they must have. I favour this strategy because it is our best chance at getting into the top 10 of a draft and get an impact player that we covet.
We just never have enough ammunition to ever trade up in the draft. This is because Jerry trades for lots of junk players (Holland) and is hardly ever able to acquire picks on players who don't fit our plans. They are just released where someone else picks them up for free.
