These days you hear so many remakes and most of them I don't really like all that much. However, every once and awhile, I hear one that I like.

What are some of your favorites?

Here's one I recently heard. I really liked the original version as a kid but I gotta tell ya, I really like the remake by Sugarland. Here it is on YT.

Originally cut by Dream Academy in the 80s. Life in a Northern Town.

This is one of my favorites just because it's such a drastic departure from the original.

All along the Watchtower - James Marshall Hendrix/Bob Dylan
The Deftones have a cool cover of a Sade song.
I must find my burned "covers" CD...
Radiohead - Nobody does it better (sexiest song ever written)
Tool - No Quarter
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Little wing
George Thorogood - One Bourbon, one scotch one beer.
Nothing compares 2 u - Sinead O'connor
There's too many.

You could make a list of only "Hey Joe" covers.
"Bob Dylan" covers.
"Whish you were here" covers.
Pearl Jam loves to cover The Who and does a good job.

"Stormy," by Santana (the original by the Classics IV is great, too, and John Legend used the music for "Save Room.")

"Baby, Now That I've Found You," by Alison Krauss.

Well, for that matter a lot of the VH catalog.

Van Halen came first to my mind. They did a lot of cover songs and was one of the things that Eddie did not like.

I think Quiet Riot doing Slade Cover songs did well.

Also I think Metallica does well doing cover songs....Even after the black album when I hated almost everything they did, I still enjoyed the few cover songs they put out.

I have 2.
1.Joe Diffie remade the Charlie Rich song "Behind Closed Doors"
2.Echo and the Bunnymen remade the Doors classic,"People are Strange",its off the Lost Boys Soundtrack. Both are great IMO.
