What boat am I missing on Bruce Carter?

Carter looked like he was jogging around at half speed at times in the San Diego game. Kiffin and Marinelli are getting that defense to work by energy and tenacity. That's how this thing works. They aren't going to suffer Carter jogging around and only actually going 100% after Woodhead has already beat him to the corner.

This defense is trying to build a certain identify and Carter was not buying in.

i think benching bruce carter is a ridiculous move. Something that shows the coaching staff is in disarray.

he has supreme talent, so the bench is the best way for him to harness it? His future potential is going to waste with the way they are (not) using him.

I've almost re-watched every game on the NFL all 22, and I'll say ernie sims definitely isn't the player bruce carter is, even when bruce carter whiffs he's still way ahead of sims....

I'm at a loss for the way the defense is being ran this season.

Bruce carter is an extremely talented guy.
He hasen't had a year like sean lee..but he's had a solid year minus a few mishaps.

carter must have issues in his personal life...the new scheme might be it as well.

he was becoming my second favorite player last year.

durant is the linebacker i want benched.

i had high hopes for sims after filling in admirably last year but..............nevermind.

durant misses tackles and is the one that knocked heath off the tackle when heath had adrian stopped .

anyone know how holloman hurt his neck earlier in the year?

There is no excuse to not have Carter in our base defense at the "very least" if it is true that he is blowing coverages, etc. I witnessed the same things the OP stated and saw an aggressive LB with deer twitch agility making plays. Over aggressive at times, but nothing that was causing the D to give up "chunks" of yardage as had been displayed with our horrid safety play. I'm with you. ***? This coaching staff is so quick to through in the vet for average play because they don't have the nuts and bolts figured out before game time. Get our freak LB ready, jeebuz.

I want everything to work teh way i want it and i want it now. I dont want to think of the aspects of the game or the learning curves or dare you say schemes, this is a simple game of throw the football you score, and if they throw the football you take it away. Its all simple in my personal little brain and anything that goes against it or dare you bring up facts will be dismissed as you being silly and me being right.

Therefore all our players are the best, every team has better players because as soon as they are CUT, i want them on this team, and our coaches are far superior than everyone else on monday thru saturday.

BTW, some posters, (lets be honest, more knowledgable than myself) have made good points on how Carter is a good player, but possibly the scheme is not working for him right now. He does have the tangibles, but maybe the mental is taking time. He might be like myself in we take a little bit longer to learn something, but when we do it clicks and you see a whole new player emerge. I personally dont know why the transition is taking so long, but i do credit the new coaches and the new scheme to it. Unlike other teams that uses band aids for a season and people are impressed, than another season and a player here or there is removed and the whole system goes to crap, i will give Marinelli (who i believe will be the next DC) to get things in order and get the correct personell into the scheme.

I didnt like the removal of Rob, but it happened and with a big change in schemes on the scale we went through, i had aniticpated hiccups at the very least. I did not expect this bad of a defense, but it could all change next year and i wasnt expecting bad eggs on this season anyway.

I liken this season to not go anywhere YET allowing us a bad draft pick regardless, we should all clap and heap praise upon Garrett because i cant expect him to make any actual impacts because I think the sport has a whole is to much for him. Than again, I think being the water boy would be a challenge for him.

Wrong scheme!

No it isn't. The guy played OLB in 4-3 in college. He's a player. He can play in any scheme, just like Lee. He just needs to act like one more consistently from Monday-Saturday, just like Lee.

Yes and no.

Nobody is denying his talent. They are denying his consistency, and rightfully so. For years i wished we had taken a more active approach in benching poorly performing players (Roy Williams, Miles Austin, a plethora of Olineman) so i cant get mad when the coaches decide to bench BC.

You have to remember that Garrett is big on CONSISTENCY.

consistency like 8-8 ring any bells?

the sentence is so dripped with irony that I have to get a roll of brawny's to sop things up
