I was never a "car nut." I always drove practical sedans while my kids were growing up. When I lived in Dallas I switched to a small SUV (Jeep Grand Cherokee) because Dallas roads are crowded with Suburbans, large pickups, and even larger SUVs so I felt like I was constantly surrounded by a wall of metal. We moved away from Texas, but I really felt no need to change.
We had been a long time Chrysler family, but I had become frustrated with Daimler Chrysler because both of our family vehicles ('99 Town & Country and '02 Grand Cherokee) suffered from a common known A/C evaporator problem. The fact that the problem occured in both vehicles 3 years apart made me realize that Daimler Chrysler knew about the problem and simply declined to fix it. In order to save a few engineering and manufacturing dollars they gave each consumer a guaranteed expensive repair bill.
Then my oldest daughter came into posession of a new E Class Mercedes Benz which I got to drive extensively last year. The ride, the handling, the quality of the interior, and simple things like the positioning of the controls all simply blew me away. I realized that I had been missing something all of my years and I began to search for something better. My kids had all grown up by last year so I no longer had to limit myself to four doors.
To make a long story short, I read about a certain car that was getting rave reviews for quality, handling and a driving experience second to none. I decided to test drive one of these vehicles in August of last year and during that drive I became a "car nut." My wife was flabbergasted at my reaction but I could not resist and I purchased this:

I have been in auto heaven ever since.
