What could be at stake for Rodgers and Packers today

The last time the Packers missed the playoffs with a healthy Rodgers it cost McCarthy his job. Is it possible Rodgers future in Green Bay could be at stake ?

Cowboys fans know all too well the impressive stats that Rodgers has stacked up against Dallas, highlighted by his overall 7-3 mark as a starter including 2 playoff wins.

At 3-6, the Packers are struggling and with the Cowboys (6-2) coming to town on Sunday, it could be a make-or-break game for the Pack.

Only one team in NFL history has made the playoff after a 3-7 start. That team was Washington in 2020, finishing at 7-9.

The Packers season is probably on the line today. And perhaps Rodgers career in Green Bay is at stake as well with 1st round pick heir apparent Jordan Love waiting in the wings.

That's why a win won't be easy. Recent history shows no matter how well the Cowboys are playing, they the Packers have there number. However, if this last ounce of magic the Packers have can't stop them from losing to Dallas or even get blown out it will have a ripple effect for the franchise. Either la fleur or the GM will have a warm seat or vice versa and they look to deal Aaron somewhere.

They have a long shot of making the playoffs IF they can win today, this is the game Rodgers has mentioned as the turnaround. If not, they're done for this season.

As to his future, I still think that is in GB unless SF stumbles and they decide to bring him home to get over the top.

As to his stock in the NFL, I think there are a lot of HC's and GM's that do not like his openness to the media about the shortcomings of his teammates. Some things a QB just does not do. There are two worlds, the locker room and outside the locker room and that belonged inside the locker room.

its a do or die game for them. its not to us. we are in solid 5th place. even if we lose today, we still play the giants. somewhat controlling our own destiny. we may look forward to Vikings show down next week. this game means way more to them than us and they are playing at home. they will come out firing. we have to withstand that initial surge and subsequently, if it doesn't snowball, then we have way more talent and we should prevail.

What could be at stake for the Cowboys? If they can't win this road game, how well does that set up the playoffs?

Not sure why the infatuation with Rodgers and thinking Dallas 'ends' his career. As for Jordan Love, he was drafted in 2020 and hasn't shown much in his extremely limited play so to call him the heir apparent might be a stretch.

It wouldn’t effect them much.

Now they better beat Minnesota next week and then New York. If not, room for error is nearly zero.

The answer to your question is Rodgers future with GB is not as stake today. Win or lose today won't determine anything. This game is just a piece of the puzzle. His future will be dictated by what happens the rest of the season.

The Packers season isn't on the line today it's already over. They aren't making the playoffs. They simply aren't good enough or playing good enough. They are 3-6 with 8 games to go. If they play .500 football the rest of the season (I doubt that happens) they finish with a 7-10 record. Not good enough for the tournament. Especially when you consider they are L5 now and will be L6 in a few hours.

Everyone has been talking about the makings of a trap game.

This is the game that has the makings of a trap game, to me, at least.

So, they use a 1st round pick on a QB with no intentions for Love to eventually take over ?

I felt it was up for discussion. If there’s season is officially over already as you are presenting then is Green Bay looking at a total rebuild next year.

What does this disappointing season mean for them moving forward ?

Might? I think the ship thinking he was the heir apparent has sunk in arctic waters!

It’s not a trap game. Dallas will have to beat themselves to lose. They can lose, but it’s not like Green Bay will find some magical remedy. It’s going to be run Aaron Jones and open up the play action

Well, they drafted Love in 2020 and signed Rodgers to an extension last year so not much of a vote of confidence in Love being the heir apparent.

So let’s assume Pack lose today and season at 3-7 is in all realistic reality is over. Is this the time to see if Love might be the heir apparent?

Yes, but as we all know QB’s can be traded or released. And with 1st round picks you have 5 years on Rookie contact so a decision still has time .

It all depends on what the mindset is moving forward for Packers.

Will they think this was just an off year with first time missing playoffs with a healthy Rodgers or is it time for a rebuild or retooling ?

Could there also be a HC change? Hard to say where this might go in Green Bay,

I could see AR just dropping the mic on GB and say I’m out. I’d be pizzed if I was him that they have such a bad team around him, esp at WR. If they aren’t overly committed to building a winning roster then why stay? Don’t know what Carrs contract situation is but could see AR in LV and paired back with Adams again.

Yea, I’m sensing there could be some major changes in Title Town if this season totally flops.
