What could Kellen Moore do for this offense?

When he was here years ago, we chased him out due to his predictable play calling, trick plays, and failure to run the ball. Now all of a sudden because he has a STUD at running back, and 2 really good WR's, we think he's a great fit to come back and run this offense? I don't see where all the love is coming from for it, please don't let his stars confuse you on the stars that we DON'T have on this team. All we have going for us right now is Ceedee Lamb........

So I ask you, what could he do for this offense, that he didn't do when he was here previously?? Please give your thoughts

Not enough.

Scheme is important but talent is way more important. The Cowboys are in desperate need of a talent infusion at WR, RB, and OL. Scheme alone or “play calling” won’t fix that.
Nor will this undying love that's here for him from the Jones family, you're right, we NEED talent, talent makes any offensive coordinator look good! If we have no plans on making serious upgrades, why bother? Go ahead and promote the TE coach or something to be the OC

Exactly..

Dallas is talent depleted and skipping 2024 offseason is a big set back.

They need so much and they probably won’t do much this offseason either.

Adding scrubs and rookies has never worked out for them but it’s what they will continue to do.

This franchise is in a sad state.

What people don't realize is....when he was here before he was saddled with trying to incorporate 4 peoples input to make an offense work. That wasn't fair to Kellen....and being BSU Alum....you could see his part of the offense ...and it was miniscule. McCarthy was forced upon him....And now we have seen the McCarthy crap playbook/ play calling on it's own merit....and now you got some buyers remorse. Personally....wouldn't shock me to see Kellen return....with Matt Eberhaus as the defensive coordinator.

Uhh that would be such a Jerry move, but hey with what you said I hear you. Wasn't Kellen around in the Garrett years?

Two things that ha plagued the Cowboys for a while, while Kellen was here and when he wasn't, are penalties and execution. Maybe these are McCarthy traits. Dallas is 4th in the league in penalties, but first in flags thrown. They are first in declined penalties and offsetting penalties. In 16 games 154 flags have been thrown against Dallas. That's 9.6 flags per game. In a weird twist, the Cowboys net penalty yards is actually 110 yards in their favor.

The other issue is execution, or attention to detail. Missed blocks, bad routes, poor decisions overall, all are problems Dallas has dealt with - on offense and defense.

Perhaps these two issues are the best reasons not to re-sign MM, although that doesn't mean we get someone better to coach the Cowboys.

I agree strongly about McCarthy’s lack of attention to detail. And that is so important in a league where the talent margins between teams is not huge. Details matter a ton in the NFL and if you neglect them, it can cost you a game or two every year.

The Cowboys are always high in penalties going back many years (and coaches), and MM's teams in Green Bay weren't heavily penalized.

Anyway, Kellen wouldn't bring anything special. We've already seen him here. He would only be here because he's Dak's BFF and Jerry would be comfortable with him.

I believe this is the main reason why Dallas does not run screens successfully. The QB doesn't sell it. The OL doesn't sell it. the WRs don't sell it. The Cowboys don't fool anyone, but seem easy to fool.

Last successful screen play we saw was when Zeke played against Pitt in his early early days

Martin doesn’t get a push anymore and Steele hasn’t been the same since the injury. Could see us drafting a RT. I do wonder if our current OL coach is part of the problem though.

Vastly improve red zone efficiency instead of settling for field goals

With Dak still filling the QB role? Nothing. He won't be able to do a damn thing.
