College career
After the Yankees selection was voided, he committed to Texas A&M University to the dismay of LSU fans.[5] As a freshman, he started 6 games as a flanker, making 11 receptions for 118 yards (fourth on the team). In those first years his impact was mainly on special teams. In 1980, he ranked second in the conference in kickoff returns with a 20.8 yards average. In 1982, he finished third in the conference in punt returns with a 9-yard average.

As a sophomore, he was moved to free safety and led the secondary with 58 tackles. He also had a publicized incident, after he knocked an A&M cadet to the ground, when he threatened an SMU cheerleader with his sabre.

As a junior, he played at strong safety, while registering 64 tackles (sixth on the team). In his senior year he was switched to outside linebacker, but even then as a key member of the defense, he still returned kicks and punts. He posted 60 tackles (seventh on the team). He also practiced baseball during his time in college.

Professional career
Cannon was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (25th overall) of the 1984 NFL draft, becoming the first player from Texas A&M University drafted by the Cowboys. It was reported that the Washington Commanders also had him as their desired selection in the round.

Eight games into his rookie season, he was a reserve right outside linebacker alternating with Anthony Dickerson, when an existing congenital spinal condition was complicated after he tackled New Orleans Saints running back Wayne Wilson. He was knocked unconscious, suffered damage to two vertebrae near his neck and experienced a brief paralysis of his arms and legs. He never started and appeared in just eight games before this injury forced him to retire in order to avoid risking paralysis.[

Joey Galloway...

You could hardly put him up there with some of the others that have been mentioned. He missed one season but the injury wasn’t the reason he didn’t produce during his Cowboys career. He was a victim of our QB situation. He had a couple of 1000 yard seasons after he left the Cowboys including almost 1300 with the bucks in 05.

It’s been nothing but cramps and injuries with him. I wasn’t sold on him the day he arrived. I think his biggest problem is in his head. The Atlanta game completely destroyed his confidence. I don’t think anyone including the team has any confidence in him.

His name came up with a question mark. The poster was wondering if it was injuries that’s caused his issues. Green’s issues are from being soft mentally and physically. His performance against Atlanta was one of the worst I’ve ever seen from an NFL player. I don’t find any humor in Chaz Green he disgusts me. Won’t be surprised in the least if he’s not back next season.

For me, this one is easy. Erik Williams. Had he not been involved in the car accident, I firmly believe he would've gone down as the best tackle in NFL history. Big E was mean, nasty, and just plain dominant. I loved that guy. Can you imagine a completely healthy Williams and LA playing together their entire careers? I'm sure the rest of the NFL is glad it didn't happen.
