3rd on our team lol he may not be our future but he's a lot better than that.

he's going to be the full-time middle linebacker green dot leader; you still have to have a guy like Kendricks and this is Sanborn. Maybe even better at diagnosing and Getting to the runner. maybe Matt can make Clark better as well.. camp and PS will bare this out..

Liafu is in the weakside/OLB or strong side with Murray in weakside/pass rush OLB role, role that Overshown would be, and Murray can spell him plus whatever ME conjures up as the LB whisperer. He brought these 2 here for a reason..

San born may not be the future but for 2025/26 season, that his role. He knows Matts D, like Kendricks knew Mikes and will be the leader to get this all moving correctly.

Sanborn and Liufau are the same age, so if Sanborn earns the PT then he earns the PT.

crazy how that works in training camp where you gotta earn a job.. got 1 linebacker that comes from ME defense in CHI and can be the green dot MLB, and another one he doesn't know well but a very good player in Liafu but for sure Overshown and Murray will be in the mix and hopefully thr LB whisperer resurrects clark as well...they will all fight it out in TC and PS..... ease O back in slow..

Like the poster I as replying to, I still want more there, but I am intrigued by the potential of both guys.

Let's not confuse or hype Sanborn to the level of a Kendricks. Also, if you think Sanborn is the guy at MLB then I'd be looking to draft a MLB early as #44. Murray seems to think he's the MLB in his interview, so I guess we'll have a battle Royale for the green dot...may the best man win.
 
Just an observation. In many of those clips, although Jack is in pursuit, he wasn't the one that made the play. I see him getting outran much of the time. The video doesn't lie so I don't see him as an asset.
 
I still see the Cowboys drafting a LB fairly early . Maybe a Stutsman out of OU . Buddy Johnson isn’t depth .

Let's not downplay the significance of having this guy in the mix. The Bears fans hated the fact they let him leave the building. They are baffled. This dude might not be Urlacher, but he might end up being a bit better than LVE, minus the injury concerns. Let's be positive. Give the guy some luv. He's pretty good.

Fans aren't even considering this guy a potential good player, maybe even a starter, leader. I've read a lot of things about him since we got him. They all say this guy has the it factor. Coming out of college I know I wanted him here, so did Dallas. This guy is going to surprise fans. For me, I'm aware of his talent and won't be shocked.

Depth is needed when the starters are actually quality starters.....the LB Corp was a mess last season with Overshown being the only standout.

Liufaus inexperience was exploited and Kendricks was slow and showing his age and Damone isn't progressing.

Are Sanborn, Liufau and Murray going to be our starting linebackers? I sure hope the draft brings a true starter to replace one of these guys

Sure we all want the future guys here but it's not that easy I mean you got guys like lve and Sean Lee they just didn't stay healthy enough for longevity but these guys are young I like this group I think this is a better linebacker group together that we've had in quite a few years... And again I trust that our new defensive coordinator which works great with linebackers going to figure out with this group how to make them maximize their talent just like the OP said above Sanborn is not old he's not washed up he's not injury prone he's the same age as the Yahoo so he's got some time to develop he could be it we don't know that's the fun of this we get to watch training camp hear reports see preseason and we'll see how this works out..

I mean Liafu and Overshown are keepers... That's something that is a future these are young players we just gotta hope that overshown doesn't end up like Sean Lee/LVE and can't stay healthy...

I don't know about all that ,

but the original poster is correct this guy's the same age as Liafu, I mean not far off from the young group we have with overshown, Liafu, and you bring in a couple guys like Murray and Sanborn this is better than anything we've had as a linebacker room in quite some years; at least potential on paper..

these are not guys like last year I like Kendricks, Kendrick surprised me as well he had a great year really it kind of went quietly, but he was kind of aging and injury prone, couldn't be trusted longterm, but that's not the case here...

Given the fact that our new coaching staff and our new defensive coordinator pick these guys out to come here and that maybe he can work with Clark and some other guys on this roster like was it buddy Johnson flashed a little bit last year I mean again this was a weak spot the last couple years and if we could stay healthy this could be the best group we've had on paper for a guy like our defensive coordinator who loves to teach and get the most out of linebackers it's a perfect opportunity...

Oh, I said bring Sanborn in weeks before he was signed, or even let go by the Bears so I'm an advocate for him. I just don't want to crown him and overhyped him for a tear down. Cowboys need to keep building everywhere.

Exactly. I was wanting this guy before we got him too. This was a breath of fresh air for me to see us get him in the building. I don't think anyone is in danger of crowning him. But what I personally love about the guy is his desire, and instincts. Talent without those two elements is useless. We need more lunch pail guys like him that work hard and really want it. The front running over hyped players have been what doomed us. They got exposed. But give me these kinds of players that try hard and don't know any better but to play there arses off.
