TE Rico Gathers: He gets a lot reps behind Jason Witten because of injuries to James Hanna and Geoff Swaim. He gets starters reps when Witten takes Wednesdays off to rest. The Cowboys are doing their best to get the former college basketball player up to speed and ready to play. Head coach Jason Garrett and quarterback Dak Prescott spent more than 30 minutes after practice with him during red-zone work Wednesday. He caught three touchdown passes from Prescott in practice.

i am pretty excited also.
lets hope jaylon, rico and tapper have big seasons after redshirting.
i have my doubts about tapper's back but one can hope.

This kid does have it and there is no question he already has trust with Dak.

I'm hoping for our injured TEs, Swaim and Hanna to return to health at some not-too-distant point in the months to come. In the meantime, Rico should be getting plenty of practice reps in their stead and yet more while Witten sits out practice. Evidently, he's getting no shortage of support from Dak and the offensive staff. I'm also anxious to see how much action he'll get in camp practices and in the preseason games to follow.

I hope you're right -- even if he's just 1/2 the TE that Witten has been, all the staff's efforts to develop him will have been worthwhile.

Between Jaylon, Rico,Tapper, the rebuilt secondary and La'ell moving to RT, I can't recall an off-season when I was more hyped heading into training camp.
