I learned that the FO want to get younger and are trying to dump bigger contracts.

We want to get younger and rely on the draft to keep competition at positions where guys otherwise would get complacent, (see Flo and Hamlin for instance).

If you look at our most important players during our rise back to competitiveness these past 5 years. Romo, Barber (initially), Witten, Gurode, James, Ratliff, Austin, etc. Relatively low round picks that have contributed without huge contracts. Look at the guys Jerry have paiddd for - Bledsoe, Rivera, Henry, Hamlin, Biscuit, Mr. Coachable, etc.

I learned we are going to bundle picks in this draft and have a very young, deep roster going into camp next year.

April is the month championships are won, lets hope we have another month like 2008. That year we hit on Felix, Choice, Jenkins, Bennett, etc. Addressed two big needs CB and RB quite effectively.

If we can address line depth and the safety position I really think we'll be fine, especially considering we've got some young athletic LBs that haven't even seen the field.

This draft can put us over the top, and Jerry and co believe it too.

Oh, and I really feel that if Roy wasn't owed 13 milly next year he would've been cut too.

Bottom line. If you don't produce on this team, you're gone. Draft well, don't overspend, and trust your system and franchise. Players don't win titles, systems do, good players become great in well-run systems. I really think these moves today, and the moves done last year this time suggest that the Jones' are finally starting to get it.

Thats what I learned toady, what about you?

I learned a couple of things today.

1. Alejandro Escovedo and the sensitive boys kick butt

2. I have problems concentrating on important things when the cowboys do anything.

3. Some people whine and complain just for the sake of it and forget very quickly lessens learned in the not so distant past.

oh and, guiness is worth the two dollars more per six pack, cause its just that good.

Jerry is still a gambler. Unfortunately this time it's Romo's back side on the line.

I applaud the moves only because, I see them the same as last year.

TO cut - Austin to Pro Bowl
Ellis cut - Spencer starts and is a beast the last 5 games
Henry traded - Jenkins to Pro Bowl
Williams cut - Sensabaugh huge upgrade
Canty not signed - Igor is a better addition
Thomas not signed - Brooking is huge upgrade

Flo and Hamlin were no longer playing at a high level, it was time to move on.

Newman and MB3 will only be Cowboys for about 11 more months

Word! This is why the quicker I start my own company the better. Otherwise its just a matter of time...

we are looking to get younger, just like Ellis and T.O. had to go,jerry is not looking to hold back the team for older/players who are not producing.

harsh decisions, but hopefully Free can step up, now safety that is a need I feel now is pressing in the draft

no comparison with Dos and guinness, although in the summer I dont mind Dos amber

okay ya, dos equis is just wrong.

I will have a decent beer for you.

I learned Jerry is a wise man, PFt Story of a possible agreement is not that far off and next years FA class if so is shaping up nicely and we just dumped some serious contract fodder.

I totally agree. Some people are freaking out about Free starting because of Minnesota. For one thing, Allen is a beast, it's not like Free was getting beat by Shante Carver. Also, on the sack/fumble on Romo, Witten was suppose to chip, and he didn't do squat. I think Free will do well, I'm just wondering how many picks we spend on depth on the o-line. I could see Mike Hamlin stepping in for Ken Hamlin and starting, or a draft pick. My biggest concern about the cuts is that we did it before the draft, and not after. If we did it after the draft, that would mean we thought we were set with our picks. Now we HAVE to draft some positions. But I trust the front office, they have done a great job in recent moves like these.

Not to trust Slate about bets with Theo.

What was that bet about anyway?

I remember getting rid of fivecountemfive with a situation like that.

Who takes the bet? lol.

People throw them at me all the time.

I never bite.
