So far, the signing of Connor, Pool and Carr are upgrades to ares of dire need on defense, while the three signings on offense are more back up/depth roles.

I think its pretty much a given that the draft will focus heavily on the front lines. I look for a guard or center early, a DL and OLB as well, with some mid to late round picks on safety or CB. And of course our obligatory 2nd round tight end.

What do you think?

Bernadeau will start and was given "starter's money" according to a source. Vickers will start. The only guy we signed who surely won't start is Orton.

I think it will be BPA with tie going to defense.

1st - Cox
2nd - CB or TE (Fleener)
3rd - Blake
4th - Brooks
5th - The Tank

I think these moves offense and defense put us in a position of not having to reach for pure need. I would not take any player at any position off the draft board.

I think we'll look somewhere in the Draft to upgrade the following positions, in no particular order,

CB - even if we get 1 more in FA, we need 5. And, Jenkins is a FA next year (plus he's coming off an injury this year).

DL - Coleman's time is nearly done, imo. We need a talent upgrade as well.

ILB - Even with Connor, we need 1 more ILB, imo. We really only have 3 now, plus O Lemon on the PS.

TE - This seems pretty much a certainty. I think the Cowboys would like another "complete" and athletic TE to complement Witten.

OLB - Again, somewhere in the Draft, we are going to hedge our bets concerning Spencer for 2013. Maybe the guy is only a situational rusher in 2012. But someone who can develop into a quality OLB.

OL - possibly both an interior OL as well as an OT for depth purposes. I think we will look at OG/Center in the Draft. Could be as early as Round 3, but I would guess latest by Round 5.

EDIT: I hope we can pick up a reliable WR in FA. Otherwise, I would have to add that as well to the Draft list.

"Bold statement for a one eyed fat man!"

Seriously, I want a link to this.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

They like Orie Lemon for the other ILB backup spot.

I think they think highly enough of him, but all the rumors seem to be the Cowboys adding another ILB via the Draft. We've linked to Carder, the ILB from Nevada, among others.

I think we draft 1 more ILB next month.

But if it makes you feel better, maybe not until Rounds 3/4.

But in all seriousness, you can't preach BPA like I do and then say no to a position because of current depth.

If the Cowboys have a Sean Lee type 1st round grade on a CB and he's there at 45, you'd be a fool not to take him. Otherwise you might as well not have a scouting department.

One CB who does interest me at 45 is Boykin (sp?).

That's also due to his good ST abilities in the return game. Drafting a guy like him would save us also having to draft a returner as well. Killing two needs with 1 stone . . . .

But we could literally go so many ways in Round 2. And I wouldn't rule out TE if the right guy is there either.

I wonder if Dallas trades down in the first round not to far down anyways picks up an extra pick/picks then use the extra pick/picks and move up in to the 2nd round giving us two 2nd round picks.

It be nice if we can pull that off

I'd be interested in drafting a corner to convert to safety. A guy like Trumaine Johnson.

I'm all for considering a TE at 45. You might get great value and Jason Witten's not going to be here forever.

Good call, agree with both

I think we're looking pass rusher and OL all the way in the first two rounds.

We need depth at other positions, but we absolutely need OL starters and at least a situational pass-rusher (the hope would probably be to get a 3-4 DE with pass-rushing prowess).

I'd like to see us get another RB round 4-5. Felix and Murray are not staying healthy all year.. about a 240lb Bruiser

that was before they signed Connor

I don't see any safety in our draft plans. Sensy and Poole are starters, and we like our youngsters.

We will be looking for at least one OL and at least one DL early in draft.

We will be looking for a TE and another CB and maybe a sleeper at OLB.

Of course, anything can change as FA finishes.
