Thornton won't stop us from drafting another DT, but it clearly won't happen in early rounds, and we won't dip into free agency for another DT.

DE....nothing left in free agency that will actually help our pass rush except for Robert Ayers (likely bidding war with Jacksonville) and Greg Hardy (very unlikely). However, we drafted two DEs last year. Lawrence and Gregory and Russell are supposed to improve each year; we have other guys who can slide out there, and Mincey is still a possibility. Unless we take a DE in round one (top or trade down), I don't see us taking another guy like Russell in other rounds.

In my opinion, this leaves us looking at Ramsey, Bosa, or a QB at 4.
Unless we are convinced that a QB is a can't miss guy (unlikely), I think it looks more and more likely that we hope for a trade down to secure 1-2 additional starters. Ramsey is my top target as options are very limited in the secondary right now.

But what's the backup plan if he goes to SD?

What's left that we can shore up in Free Agency at this point?

I don't think a one year deal keeps us from drafting Jack either. So, he's still on my list.

As for the rest, I don't think there is much of a chance we draft a QB. With how FA has shown us what teams will do for a QB, I still think we'll have a trade partner who will want to jump up for one of the top QB prospects. But yes, Jacks, Ramsey, or Bosa are who I believe we will draft.

As for what we have left to do in FA, more depth signing and hopefully we get a solid CB in the coming days.

They could kill the secondary with two bold moves in getting Heyward for CB and Weddle for S. Although neither probably is in the cards.

More likely is making a push to get Hanna back in and maybe a lackluster Nolan Carroll/Matt Moore pair.

Either we will draft a QB on our own or be forced to draft one like we had to when LA knocked out Troy. Its better to do it on your own then to be forced.

No one impresses me at #4, trade down and get 2 defensive players. QB in the 3rd.

Unfortunately, we don't have a good track record when it comes to doing what's "best for us".

I think Ramsey is very much in play at #4. Just my guess right now.

Yes, likely. They'll wait til they get Ramsey to release Carr.

Predicted draft: Ramsey, Henry, Prescott

They have to find the right balance in Free Agency / Draft / Final roster.
First step fill spots from withing on players they know a lot about.
Second fill one or two slots with Free Agents not costing the entire CAP.
Third draft smartly. Get at least three starters each draft.
So we wait to see what steps one and two happen out as to get to step three.
What do I hope we get out of step two - a fast WR, an interior DL, a good CB.
When the other parts are in place then Step three, draft plans, can be seen in a clearer light.

If we stay at 4 and don't want a QB then Ramsey is the guy I want as well.

Tunsil and Ramsey are premium talents.. After that there is a big drop off as far as true blue chip talents imo.

I think San Diego will take Ramsey though.

The Corner market is so crazy that getting a guy like Ramsey and paying him 4 or 5 mill a year is too good to pass up.

What QB in the third is even worth the pick? To me there are 5 or so guys worth messing with in this draft and if not one of them better off going another way
I've thought for awhile if we pick at 4 it's gonna be Bosa, Ramsey, or a QB
Otherwise I think we trade down
This draft is loaded with DT's
