What do you guys think about Greg Ellis?

Before I say anythingm this is not a rub it in thread. I'm asking an honest question.

How do you guys feel about Greg Ellis being a 3 down lineman. From what I saw today, the guy overreacts big time to PA passes and was the reason Portis broke tha 38 yard run.

He's been good on obvious passing downs but do you guys feel comfortable with him being their on first and 2nd? I know you guys drafted Kevin Burnett who was a beast at Tennessee. Why is he not getting more time?

It was two, but that's not the point. I luv Ellis, hope he makes the pro bowl, but his lack of outside agility and speed kills us at inopertune times. If it's not a blitz or goal line situation, we need speed on the outside. Rotate these guys more...

Come on theebs... it was an unbiased thread started by a Commander fan... .earlier today he was posting that Brunell sucked and Gibbs was a fool for starting him

I knew this would happen...the right coaching staff with the right amount of time and talent can expoit Ellis as a LBer...Gibbs had the time andhas the right talet/scheme to expose him as a LBer...my problem was us getting beat on trick plays...I said it during the comercial break..the Commanders cannot line up and beat us...they thrive and trickery, deception and misdirection..and what do they do..they come out of commercial break and Randle-El throws a pass...how come Newman just let Lloyd go? And I gurantee you Parcells schooled the players all week on the Commanders "tricker"...and that is why he probably cut practice early Friday...because the defense was making too many mistakes. Again I am pretty certain that the Commanders "tricker" wass something we prepared for..but we just lack focus!!!!!!!

Well, I can say that I've been concerned about Ellis' play before today and wrote it in a few posts.

My eyes tell me he's not a LB but a DE playing LB. He doesn't have the agility in open space....or the speed.

he has played great until today. I give him a pass today.

Ditto. He had a tough time today and they exploited his lack of speed, but keep in mind he has thoroughly helped our run defense and still makes great plays. Ellis gets a pass.

Ok thanx for some of the replies. I was just wondering why he is starting when he has two young guys behind him with much more speed and potential.

Carp will eventually get this spot anyways. I would like to see Zimm work him in more if possible.

ELLIS made a mistake....., but, it was not as bad as the T.O. drop IMO

I think he's too old to play that many snaps. He's in pretty much 90% of the snaps. Burnett or Singleton needs to play more in base packages and keep GE rested for nickel.

Ellis should only be in on about one-third of neutral down snaps. He should still be taking all the snaps in the nickel. Just let him start and he should be happy.

I think we should be giving some snaps to Carp at SOLB and some more snaps to Burnett at WOLB to keep Ware and Ellis fresher for the nickel. They both looked pretty gassed at the end of the game today.

I think that the Cowboys are only a player or two way from being a bonifide contender.

Could be that player will be Ellis's replacement....
