Do you guys think that "look in"(i think thats the name) Technique that Champ and Bly use would be good for our corners? Keeping you're eyes on the WR and QB at all times, pedaling sideways?

It works pretty good for them, they make a lot of plays on the ball....i think we should mix up our coverages some and Techniques....Especially when the play offs roll around. Too throw a few teams off especially if we go to the Super Bowl.....

I think we should also play an inside Technique eliminating slants...and allows to break on curls much better...and leave the WR the sidelines as the only option...I notice Henry plays it sometimes and he comes up break up the slant routes.

What do you guys think? I like the Technique Champ and Denver uses, i use it when i play Football with a few friends, or when im on Defense in this League that I'm in, and it works pretty good, puts you in good position for long bombs and allows you not to bite on double moves, and allows to play the slant well and limit it to small gains, the only problem, is when you are watching the QB and he pump fakes, you have to be smart or you will be looking dumb as hell

Corners don't play the same technique on every down. If they did, they wouldn't have a job very long.

Seems like Champ and Deion could split there eyes. one on the wide out and other ont he quarterback. i would guestimate it takes alot of pratice to get it down

True but Champ plays it A lot, not all the time, but him and Bly play that way often

I was just saying if we should try and mix it in? i think it would help on 3rd and longs

Na the way champ does it, and the way its played, your keeping your vision on the QB and you can see the WR from the side, and have a feel for were he is going.

but i see what you are saying

my problem with that scheme, and i'm not even sure it's the scheme, it may just be the way that Chump and Bly play the position, is they run the risk of being burned deep if a WR ever does a double-move.

While it is true that Bailey has been labeled the best since Deion, and i think it's mostly b/c of # of INTs, if you watch him play, which i had the torture of doing while living in Denver, a majority of his INTs are when they play zone and he is occupying a space where for whatever reason the QB doesn't know he's there, and the throw goes way over the head of the receiver and right into Bailey's hands.

he also is a very aggressive CB, so he will jump routes 95-100% of the time, which is where he's been able to get returns for TDs when he jumps the quick outs and hooks

however, his aggressive play gets him burned for TDs a lot, and not just by great WRs, but also average WRs, and it amazes me that offensive coordinators don't tell their QB and WR to run stop and go routes on every play against him b/c they would most likely get huge plays every time

To answer the question as to whether or not we should play their scheme when it comes to our CBs, i would say no. I know most would not agree that they have been satisfied with the way our corners are playing right now, and i will agree that when i see them playing 10-15 yds off the receiver i want to rip my hair out. However, what have we not been seeing hardly at all this year that we were constantly haunted with last year? deep passes and huge plays against our secondary.

i personally think that we are better off giving up the short routes, with possibility of jumping them or reading the QB to either break up the pass or get an INT, rather than have them watch the balls go over their heads to a wide open WR running for a score

it may just be me, but i think the way we play our CBs gives a better chance for overall success than being overly-aggressive, and our scheme, if executed properly, gives our pass-rush more time for coverage sacks, or just to cause errant throws.

Actually, the cowboys have used a lot of look-in technique, that was a major reason why Aarron Glenn got cut... he couldn't play it as well as the other corners.
