What do you realistically want from this draft?

What I want:

1. Carson Wentz, if he's available. I'm becoming more convinced if he can sit for a year, he's going to be a good one.
2. Ezekiel Elliott. If we don't get Wentz, we need to get a running back. We saw what happened without a consistent running game. And, no, I don't think DMC can carry the load. If it's not EE, then I can stomach Derrick Henry, though I have questions about his elusiveness.
3. A defensive tackle. Yes, we need pass rushers, but I don't expect anyone we take to benefit us all that much this year. But we need a plugger up the middle. And this is the year to draft one, though I really fear we'll do like we did last year with the running backs and leave this draft without a DT.
4. a corner. OScan is returning from an injury. We don't know if Carr is returning, Mo is still a mystery and Byron Jones is moving to free safety. We need to replenish our secondary.

So in summary, I hope we get a future franchise QB, a running back who can carry the load similar to DeMarco Murray, a corner and a defensive tackle.

Why'd ya stop. Keep going. You were doing perfect.

If one of the QB's grades out to be the next Peyton Manning, you take the QB. If he grades out to be Drew Brees. you take him. If he turns out to be Matt Ryan, then you pass on him and build the team around Romo, and take a middle round QB, or a cast off who is already in the league and build a great team around Romo and win now.

If you draft a guy who is like Matt Ryan then he sits and waits for Romo for several years, and then about the time he actually plays the Cowboys are forced to overpay to keep him, got nothing out of him, and if we missed on him, then you are in cap hell. No thanks.

If they take a QB high, and he is a bust, then it will be a total back breaker. You don't run that same risk if you take a mid round QB. That is why I think the interest may be very real on a guy like Dak Prescott, or someone like him. I think Jerry thinks he can get the next Russell Wilson in the 3rd or 4th.

Really, it all comes down to BPA. Just do it. If that turns out to be a running back, take him, if you have to. Better to take a guy you really want at a draft position that most feel is too high (Frederick comes to mind) rather than drafting for need, and after you draft the bust you are stuck with an average player, his cap hit, and you still haven't filled the position.

Hell if the best player on your board in the 4th is a punter, take him. Don't get cute. Just draft football players. Better to have a punter in the 4th and he be an All Pro, than draft three need areas, and have to replace them every time you turn around.

With that being said, if this draft is as deep at defensive line as everyone says it is, then we would be fools not to get at least two to add to our DL. Thats not drafting for need. That's drafting for BPA.

Personally, I would love to trade back about 3 times in this draft a small amount each time and get two more third round or better picks out of the trade down.

I've really started to fall in love with a few players.

I'd be over the moon ecstatic if we landed Bosa or Ramsey. I was on the Ramsey train pretty early and I know some still don't like him, even after the combine. But those two would send me over the moon.
Myles Jack would be acceptable, but I wouldn't be thrilled. Much like last years pick of Jones.

I'd be mad if we grabbed either QB, Buckner or Treadwell at 4

In the second round I'd like to land Henry or Cook. Those two are really moving up my board as great prospects for us.

after the 2nd round, I don't have much in the way of specific players, yet. But I'd like to see a DT, a WR and a LB in those mid late rounds.

At the least I want a QB to sit, a good DT, and a Solid to good Safety with our day 1 and 2 picks. Finding any gems on day 3 is just a bonus.

1)Goff or Wentz.we wont have a chance to a get a franchise QB again,
2)a starting 1tech and his backup.we could use the FA to fill one of those and get rid of Hayden.
3)backup for Crawford
4)A De with atheticism ,i dont trust Gregory anymore.

I am not worried about RB our THE corners,

With out picking specific players I want:
1. QB of the Future
2. Starting DT
3. Back up DT
4. RB to share Load With DMac
5. WR Depth behind Dez
6. CB Depth

Anything more would be gravy.

i PRETTY MUCH AGREE
But if the QB isnt there all those under the QB select on your list
can be selected in any order of BPA

To fill as many holes as possible and to add depth to the defense. So hopefully if dallas has a good draft this year and next they can compete for a sb.

Depends of Free Agency. I suspect they will kick the tires on a DE and RB in free agency, so that would leave QB, CB, DT and LB as the top needs.

Good players that help this team even if it is not the players I would personally like.

For example...I would like Wentz over Ramsey if both were available...however if they take Ramsey...than I hope he turns out to be a good to great player for us.

Another Example... I like Jack over Bosa...but if they took Bosa I would hope he turns out to be a good to great player for us.

We just need a good to great draft even if it is not the players we would personally like to have.
