What do you think about a 3 safety set?

If we get a safety in the 2nd or 3rd..such as Delmas or Johnson do you think Wade will put out 3 safeties on the field at once?(Sensy,Delmas/Johnson,Hamlin)

Scandrick would play slot with Jenkins and Newman playing the corners still. We'd essentially have 6 DB's on the field on passing downs. You could have the drafted safety basically roam around the field and give the offense a different look. Do you think Wade would do something like that?

Sensabaugh,Drafted Safety and Hamlin playing Safetys

Newman,Scandrick and Jenkins at Corners

Rat,Spencer,Ware,Hatcher rushing the passer, With maybe one of the safetys blitzing

James at ILB

Could really confuse the opposing offenses with this look. You don't know who's blitzing or where the safeties are going to play.

Isn't this pretty much the Dime package? If your 6th best DB is a safety rather than a cornerback, he is your Dimeback.

I'd also hope Bradie James wouldn't be on the field. He couldn't cover Cory Proctor.

All they need are three safetys that can actually play, and I'm willing to give it a shot.:laugh1:

I think you can start thinking of safeties and cornerbacks as interchangeable. Just think DBs on the field. People are already putting 4-6 DBs on the field at the same time. They just need to be able to tackle as well as cover. Sooner or later defenses and offenses will chase each other around the clock and you'll see different personnel on the field again.

It's called the quarters defense and it is essentially only used in 3rd and long and prevent situations in the NFL.

They call that package your dime. We're leaving training camp with 5 maybe even 6 corners anyways depending on how interchangeable 1 of our safeties or corners is.

We've used a dime safety defensive package under Wade, mostly before Roy Williams' injuries.

Last one in the thread turn the lights out when you're done, ok?

or a base 3-3-5 w/ Scandrick playing the Lobo/Miner position. But it's a lot to learn

Ratliff - Olshansky - Spencer

Brooking - James - Ware

Hamlin - Scandrick - Sensenbaugh

Newman - Jenkins

:laugh2: well, I thought he was on to something.

Now this 3 WR stuff is just going to far. How would you even pull that off?

No way would we ever pull Billy Joe Dupree or Robert Newhouse out of the game to put in our 3rd best WR.

Yes, we did it constantly in '07. When we lost Roy Williams in '08, we started just using 4 corners and 2 safeties.

Hey Slate, how about a 2 TE and 2 RB set? You just gonna leave the offense out to dry like that? Why all this creative love for the defensive schemes?

this is the perfect hi-jack thread

LOL! Put up a thread during the week 17 game last year. Unfortunately that sticky on the top didn't tell me any better since I didn't read it and was relatively still new. In saying so I don't have any thread making options anymore.

Care to put in a good word for me or a "get The Rake his thread making rights back" thread? That way somone can put up something of football substance around here? :D
