It's interesting. Over the first 8 games of the season, Hester only caught 6 passes. Hester caught 20 passes last season for 299 yards, 2 TDs. His AYR is 15.0. I agree with everybody here in that it's not worth paying big dollars for a guy who only returns but, when I look at that situation, I'm not sure that he isn't a WR. The problem with Chicago, over the last couple of seasons is a question of how do you get him on the field and into the offense. I mean, he's only going into his 3rd season so he's still developing as a Pro WR. Last season, the Bears had the following receiving stats:
Barrian - 71 Rec 951 Yds
Peterson - 51 Rec 420 Yds
Clark - 44 Rec 545 Yds
Muhammed - 40 Rec 570 Yds
Olsen - 39 Rec 391 Yds
Hester - 20 Rec 299 Yds
He lead the team in AYR.
I mean, you think about who the Bears have had at the skilled positions and who they have had at QB and you have to wonder if it is a question of Hester not being able to play WR or Chicago not really a good opportunity for him to play WR the past few seasons.
The question would be, is he better then what we could draft this year in the 1st rd? Is he better then what we could draft in the 2nd or 3rd?
I don't?
