The gloves actually cause more head trauma, it is part of the reason you see more violent brain injuries in boxing than MMA.

This is true. He was found not guilty by the courts. Court of public opinion is a diff story. But most people in high profile cases such as his try to live out their life in anonymity. This dude is not doing that and I have no respect for that kinda thing.

As for DMX he's a guy just trying to catch a check so he can get high again.

True. I just think not having them lessens the chance of having a boring prearranged draw where there is controversy and everybody is mad because nobody won.

They are doing this fight because they know there are people who are going to pay to watch. It wouldn't surprise me if they created even more controversial result in this first fight to try to get another payday down the line.

Not sure I would believe the gloves are that big of a factor, if they really are at all, for why there's more brain injuries in boxing.
