What do you think is going through JJ's mind?

On one hand, I think he's thankful that he's probably found his QB of the future without having to making a substantial investment.

He probably thinks that his offense has significant promise for several years. All he needs to do is upgrade Rivera, groom one more young WR and improve competition on the OL. That's all doable.

He might even have his kicker for 2007.

However, he's probably scratching his head with respect to defense. After spending so much money and high Draft picks, he really doesn't have enough to show for it.

Yes, BP has gotten us to the playoffs, but does he have enough left in the tank at this stage? And if BP stays, does he keep Zimmer in place? Haven't you given Zimmer enough quality players to put a better product on the field?

I just wonder if I were sticking to the 3-4, and if BP is staying for one more season, is Zimmer really the guy you want as your defensive co-ordinator?

Unfortunately, if BP stays, I think Zimmer stays as well. Zimm's excuse will be Ellis' injury and youth on defense . . . . As much as I'd love to see an upgrade on the coaching staff, I think BP sticks by his man.

He'd better be thinking of fixing the O-line and the D-line.

Yhea, but I don't think Jimmy J. is coming back. Too good of a life style.

We're probably going to have BP and the others for 2007, IMO.

Hopefully he's wondering who his coach next season will be, and who he can bring in to run his defense.

Because if it is Parcells and Zimmer again, we'll bare witness to another wasted season.

Do I really want Parcells back...500 coaches could get us dominated like today.

I would have to think that Jerry has to be beside himself with the investment he's made in money and draft picks compared with the minimal return he's gotten out of it.

This defense is stunningly bad given the talent.

That's what I think.

Doesn't this problem lie with the DC? Why the heck doesn't BP hire a guy who knows the 3-4 inside-out?

Why should he do that when Zim's spent all that time interviewing other DCs around the league who use the 3-4. He has to be a veritable genius of the 3-4 by now.

I think it's a given that Zimmer is gone.

It'll be a question of what coaches will be joining him. There will be turnover it's just a question of how much turnover.

I hope so. It's taken me awhile to believe it and I'm not certain replacing Zimmer will be the right thing to do. But I'd like to get someone in here with a different scheme like Johnson.

We definitely miss Ellis and we definitely need to draft another player like Ware. Not sure where we'll get him and everyone want's another Ware. So wishing for it is not the same as getting it. But we need another pass rusher....along with that new DC.

Mr. Winicki,

What aspiring DC would want to come to Dallas under the assumption that Parcells will be around for one more year at best? I think Jerry should lean to scrapping everything and bringing in the best young assistant he can find to be the head coach who has the fire to compete and win. Problem there is that Jerry tends to want to dominate in that type scenario and won't let him hire his own staff and control what's going on on the field. This situation with Parcells is quite a pickle. However the personnel dept. seems to be in fine shape and should be helpful in attracting another good head coach. If Jerry could just step aside in this instance, things are in place for the next coach to be successful if the right guy and staff is found...

See I don't think it would be Jerry that would be standing in the way of either Zimmer leaving or the hiring of a new DC.

As far as being able to hire someone even though Bill may not be here for more than one year... all I can say is, just envision a talented defensive line or a secondar coach somewhere making a couple hundred thou a year with the opportunity to be a DC in Dallas for say 800 thou to a cool mill per year-- would you take it even though there may be some upheaval in the coaching staff in the near future? And consider the fact that most coaching positions for most teams have a very short life-span... I would have to think that Dallas would have no problem getting a new DC.
