On one hand, I think he's thankful that he's probably found his QB of the future without having to making a substantial investment.
He probably thinks that his offense has significant promise for several years. All he needs to do is upgrade Rivera, groom one more young WR and improve competition on the OL. That's all doable.
He might even have his kicker for 2007.
However, he's probably scratching his head with respect to defense. After spending so much money and high Draft picks, he really doesn't have enough to show for it.
Yes, BP has gotten us to the playoffs, but does he have enough left in the tank at this stage? And if BP stays, does he keep Zimmer in place? Haven't you given Zimmer enough quality players to put a better product on the field?
I just wonder if I were sticking to the 3-4, and if BP is staying for one more season, is Zimmer really the guy you want as your defensive co-ordinator?
Unfortunately, if BP stays, I think Zimmer stays as well. Zimm's excuse will be Ellis' injury and youth on defense . . . . As much as I'd love to see an upgrade on the coaching staff, I think BP sticks by his man.
