What do you think Jerry's thinking?

The announcement will probably come soon, so what do you guys think Jerry is focusing on in these interviews? We've heard Singleton blew him away, we've heard that he favors Norv and Phillips, basically - we don't have any idea.

But, we can wonder what's important to him in the search. What's he focusing on, gang?

Does he want someone who will blitz more?

Does he want Roy used differently?

Does he want TO featured more?

Does he want youth? Vigor? Fire?

What's he after?

I know for a fact #2 is what Jerry wants, the rest, I don't know for sure

Well we know by the emphasis on Garrett, that protecting Romo is his major concern.

He has obviously gone from we will stay 3-4 to we have the players to run a 4-3 too, interesting how that change came about after Parcells left the ranch.

I hope his hope is a coach that won't give lip service and try to band aid our weak spots. A coach that will adjust his style to fit what talent we have and not demand a square peg fit a round hole. A coach that leads by example, maintain his fire, and does not stiffle his assistants, or sufficate the life out of the team.

In other words, the exact opposite of Parcells.

He probably has had a favorite for a while, waiting to see if anyone changed his mind.

I have been through an interview process, one guy just stands out to you.
One guys keeps coming to the top.

His decision should come soon, ... if not, he is confused and lost.

What JJ wants,

1. Develop Romo

2. Develop Garrett

3. Not take a step backwards with respect to the playoffs (i.e., thinks we have enough talent to compete seriously next year)

4. Figure out best way to utilize talent on both sides of the ball. On offense, guys like TO. On defense, guys like Roy.

5. Win NOW. I don't think JJ is looking to bring along a first time HC at this juncture. He thinks he's close.

I think JJ would prefer to stick with the 34, but it's not a "must". If another defensive scheme fits better and there is NO step backwards, then fine.

I think he's looking for the weakest canidate so that he can bully him around...!



Not really...but, I have no clue to what JJ will do...he's a very scary man!

I think Jerry is tryin to decide between a guy who knows how to run a 3-4(Phillips), a guy who will not touch the defense in terms of coaching and has been puckered up since Parcells left(Turner), a guy who will bring intesity to the organization(Singletary), and a guy who will more than likely change the defense to a 4-6(Rivera) based on his television interview he had after his job interview.

But above all, I believe Jerry is thinking how much he loves that the Cowboys have stayed in the headlines during this whole process. NFL live, NFL Total Access, Sportscenter, have all been pouring the Cowboys coaching search down everybody's throats since Parcells left. And PTI has opened with "and the Cowboys keep confusing us." Heck, my Mom said she heard it being brought up during Regis and Kelly and even on the View .

That's what Jerry Jones is... A Broken Link. He came up with one cell short of a brain if he hires Todd Bowles to be our head coach. What is wrong with Roy thinking Bowles should be our head coach.

Personally, I think Jerry wants someone that can work with him and allow him to have some input into the day to day chores regarding the team.

I think he also wants the most able candidate that can stop our late season slides, which means someone that can stop the bleeding on the defensive side of the ball.

I think he wants an HC he can "work with"..who doubles as a proven OC to help groom those 2 that are still green in their new roles.. Romo/starting QB and Garrett/OC and someone proven that can "fix" the defense.

Enter Norv and Rivera for a Norv/Rivera/Garrett tri-fecta.

Course what he'll do instead is go with Wade/Garrett/Bowles and witness the wheels come off quick cause other coordinators will own them.

I think Jerry's favorite candidate is and has been Jason Garrett. I don't think Jerry can convince himself to turn the team over to him yet though because of Jason's inexperience.

As a result, I think this is coming down to Norv or Wade. Norv probably gets you Rivera, but Norv also lessens the impact of Garrett. Wade makes your defense better, and he also lets Garrett and Sparano shine.

In the end, if Jerry loves Garrett as much as I think he does, and since Norv will want to run his own offense, I'm not sure it makes a ton of sense to bring Norv in.

Thats all well and good and I understand the importance of the exposure.... BUT... at some point he has to get us a winner.... we havent won a playoff game in over 10 years.... the marketing is nice... but we need substance... soon
