My 1st team DL to start the season.

T.Crawford...... Thornton......T.McClain.......B.Mayowa

with Irving, J.Crawford, M.Collins, Tapper rotating keeping them fresh.

everyone focuses on DE, but if we can get some sort of pressure out of a couple of these guys, mixed in with a blitz every now and then, we should be ok.

I hope your right but what I see is a lot of guys who are on the edge of developing but not there yet, maybe some guys take that step up this year but even at that there is a lot of unknowns and pass rush even with Lawrence and Gregory was shaky at best.

the biggest unknowns are Tapper and Collins, who havent seen the field yet.

Dont know, ive heard alot of people say Crawford isnt effective on the outside. It looks nice on paper but until Mayowa can show something I cant believe hes a starter. I do think our strength in the middle is going to be key to making this group effective.

Will the pass rush potentially suffer? Yes. Will it matter? No...at least not for the first four games of the season. Once Lawrence and Gregory return, this pass rush is going to be just fine...I think.

Not sure you can have Tapper in the two deep. He hasn't taken a snap yet and it's unclear when he will.

Irving has potential but right now that is all it is at this point and there are others on that line I feel the same way about. I just don't see any difference makers along that DL right now. This does not mean someone will not step up and I hope someone can.

I hope your right Lawrence had 8 last season and will be back after 4 games but then how long before he gets his legs? Even at that he was not showing himself to be a great pass rusher but decent. Gregory a lot more potential but you are looking at 10 games for him? and how many games after that before he is up to speed?

Tapper, Collins, Mayowa and Irving are all guys with some real talent but are unknowns. Frankly, we'd be lucky if two of the four developed into studs. It's rare you would hit a ton of home runs from a pool of young kids.

True. Lets say one turns into a stud as you say. that would be big for the DL, after all Houston DL with Watts is very good take him out and not so much, his play helps big time along the front. My hope is someone does show they are a force player who can make a big difference the rest of the DL benefits off that

Mayowa has to be a lock at RDE to start the season, the only other alternative is maybe Russell. I'm not really sure what the status on Irving is, but it looked early on they were hoping to put him at LDE.

I think it stinks.

Not a bad thought but I don't like Crawford at end; he's too slow and can't get around the edge. If the push is going to come from the inside, Crawford needs to be at tackle.

Dallas needs guys that can get around the edge fast if the push up the middle is successful. Mayowa and Irving appear to be the best outside rushers until Lawrence returns.

I think it will go 1st: British Crawford/Irving ....TCraw.....T.McClain....B. Mayowa
2nd British Crawford/Irving....Collins......Thornton......Russell

When DLaw comes back He takes the right side, Mayowa goes to 2nd line and Russel is in trouble.

I think they like Irving at LDE and British Crawford can play pretty well there. I am more worried about RDE until DLaw comes back and there is no way that TCraw goes to that spot.

I think the 1st team it will pan out like this, with a rotation, of course:

J.Crawford...... Thornton......T. Crawford.......Irving

Id rather keep crawford and thornton starting at tackle. I feel good about them at tackle and hope theyre disruptive enough to get production out of mediocre at best ends until Lawrence gets back to provide something off the edge.

you have a better starting lineup?

I think any starting lineup we put out there in the first 4 weeks is going to be sub par.

Crawford has to be healthy for this line to have any hope of being quality. But in no way do I think you ever put him at end. Crawford has to be the most injury prone guy on our entire team save Dunbar.

I know you are talking about the first week but if by week 4 we can start Lawrence, Thornton, healthy Crawford then I think you have 3 of the 4 positions covered with good players. NOT great, but good to very good players. Now I think you HAVE to add a pro bowl DE to that equation and then we can talk about having a Dline worthy of a contender.

Mayowa, McClain, Crawford, Thornton

Thornton has shown he has one of the top two or three getoffs on the team. Apparently the coaches love McClain so while he is healthy he likely will be the starter.

You may be very surprised, but you could see Wilbur a little as a pass rusher. Jack Crawford likely will move around in several spots. Collins, Russell and depending on health Irving and Tapper will fill out the rotation.
