What do you think this TEAM needs to work on for next year?

IMO the season was a success. Did anyone think we were going to the Super Bowl after all the changes we made in the offseason and draft? We had ALOT of question marks going into the season on both sides of the ball and to me this season has answered most of them. There are still some unanswered questions but for the most part we can conclude that this team was pretty darn good.

Now having said that I want you zoners to list what you want this team to improve on next season.

For me it's Tony Romo, on a blitz with man coverage all around, throwing the ball to the sidelines and allowing the WR beat the DB for the ball. Now I know this year Romo was about protecting the ball but in this particular situation you take those chances. If Austin and Romo work on this and become successful at it then it will definitely add a new wrinkle in our Offense.

They just need to keep doing what they've been doing. Keep building, keep adding talent through the draft.

Replace Andre Gurode.

IMO dallas needs to release a few players and let a few go in FA. the core is fine.

flo - he did good but its time to let free stay on the field.

roy - he just isnt right for this team. anquan boldin, zona seems to be willing to take what they can for him now. brandon marshall, idk. i like boldin

newman - while i dont think anything will be done about him. hes awful now. not really his play but his attitude. he leaves the safties in some bad spots.

kosier was killed yesterday. id love it if dallas could sign a guy like logan mankins. patriots seem willing to let him walk.

dallas doesnt really have holes. but they can get better at some spots. one thing is certain, no rookie is going to come in and start. they need vets. not another young guy who is going to make the same mistakes we been seeing for the last few yrs

Need a better Head Coach. I think this team is a front runner all the way and does not have the personality (like Wade) to come from behind and fight to try to win a game. So I agree with you that we do need to get younger and better at the OL, Ogletree and Felix Jones need to start, I feel we are OK at ILB and Safety, but we could get better in those areas also, we need a big time CB to play opposite Jenkins, IMO Newman is washed up, but we need a better head coach, and Garrette is not the answer. I would go after Cowher

It's really funny that you mention the Superbowl in this thread. Before the season started, with the way many of the predictions were, if you'd told them that the team would be 11-5 and win a playoff game, and not told them anything else, many of these folks would have taken that and ran with it cause they were prediction anything from 5-11 to 9-7 without a single December win or playoff win.

Now that they've done a couple of those things, winning in December and getting the first playoff win in forever, the greedy fan inside of us all seems to want to go back to "We suck. Fire the coach. Get rid of Barber. Fire this player, fire that player."

There isn't a single person, no matter how high they were on the season, who wouldn't have taken 11-5 and a playoff win before the season started if that was offered to them.

It's funny how views on a season change so drastically from week to week.

Need to upgrade the OL - Need an influx of youth.

Need a better ILB - This is a must! This team needs a playmaking ILB that can make plays behind the LOS and create/make interceptions.

Need to start Ogletree over RW - At least make it an open competition.

Need to start Felix over MBIII - Trade MB3 if there is a fair offer. Felix may not be durable but he is their best tailback. Anyway, the knock on Tony D was that he was not durable enough to last in the NFL.

Need an upgrade in the safety position
- This is an absolute must!

I would focus on the following areas in the off-season:

1. Pass Protection - The O-Line has really been lousy at this for a long time. Romo makes them look better than they are with his ability to avoid the rush but when you have guys coming free or more than one of them no QB can avoid them.

Who we replace would depend on who is available in FA & the draft. I would prefer to work through the draft to upgrade the O-Line. Free looks like he can be a starter but needs to increase his strength overall. We don't know what w have yet in Brewster since he was on IR all year. One of my primary draft axioms is that you draft OL on Day-1 EVERY year (well in the first 3 rounds now).

2. Kick/Punt returns - We are awful in the return game. At least with DeCamillis replacing the idiot Bruce Read our coverage units improved dramatically but our return game was still woefully lacking. Patrick "Fair Catch" Crayton is NOT the guy we need back there. One of the guys I'd target in the draft would be a return guy.

3. WR - Roy Williams has shown me very little in a year and half now. It isn't about getting on the same page with Romo but about getting his rear end motivated. He looks lazy and slow out there. He is not getting open, not working for the ball, drops way too many, and overall shows a lack of attention, motivation, and discipline. I would not be in favor of cutting him but I would demote him and make him EARN a starting spot on this team. I would also draft a WR in the 1st or 2nd round. If a good, young WR is available in FA then I would bring him in as well. We really need someone to compliment Austin an Williams ain't it.

4. Kicker - At the beginning of the season I would have thought this would be the last area w would need to address but for whatever reason Nick Folk had a meltdown this year and failed us completely. I would like to bring him back and see if he can work it out because he has proven that he can be a solid and reliable kicker for us but I'd also see who is available to compete with him in TC & pre-season.

5. Get rid of Dave Campo once and for all!

That's about it really. The only other moves I'd make would be for increased depth depending on who is available. I'd like to see an identical approach this off-season to last year. Avoid the big names and headcases and just look for solid football players.

This team became a TEAM for the first time in a long time this year and I for one LOVED it!

Same here!

I see no need for personel upgrades to any other unit. Could we use an upgrade or two to a few units? Of course. But it takes a back seat to OL.

I can think of a few other changes we could make.

Barber should be our FB. End of story case closed.
Now since he's not exactly the prototypical FB, we'll need to take a page out of the Pats book and train a few of our TE's and LB's to fill the short yardage FB role.
It'll save a roster spot and add a valuable extra dimension to our O.

We really need O-tree to take the next step. Good news is I believe he will.
Austin and Ogeltree will be the starters on merit.
And I think they will be outstanding!

It's funny looking back at it...but do you recall when people were outraged when we cut Ellis, Henry, and T.O.? Did this team even miss those guys this year? HELL NO. This team exceeded expectations of many people outside of this organization and maybe some within. The staff has proved that they earned another year.

This. It seems to me anytime this team gets behind they don't know how to handle it. Besides that...

Garrett needs to learn what our running backs can do, each.
Bennett needs to work on learning the play book.
Romo needs to just keep doing what he is doing, he made his biggest strides of his career this year.
We have a lot of backups on defense, (esp Line and line backers) that we really really really need to step up so we don't have to rely on our starters every single play of the whole game.
Roy Williams...God Bless the kid, needs to work his butt off every day this offseason.

We missed Ellis, no arguing that we did not.
