What does Barber starting mean?

Are the Cowboys using the playoffs to see wether Barber can handle the pressure of being the lead guy?

Or

Do they just want to pound the ball?

Or

Both?

Obviously Barber gives the Cowboys the best chance to win, and the best chance to gain yards on the ground. But is there more to it? Barber is a restricted FA, that can be tendered. So will Dallas use the playoffs as a audition for Barber to show he can handle the duties of the top guy?

All i know is Barber can save the Cowboys alot of headaches and alot of cheddar by running wild in the playoffs. As well as make alot of cheddar for himself. If he shows up, Dallas can concentrate on other posistions in the draft and FA and put less emphasis on RB.

Why they haven't started him the entire year remains a mystery to me.

One word:

Attitude

He has it and our offense needs it.

Agreed.

There are some other things in play I believe.

I think they are touting Terry Glenn when we all know that TO is go-to guy.

I think that starting Barber will piss off Julius and when he does come in he will play like he did against Seattle AFTER they pissed him off.

People can say better back this and spark that.

But what this says to me is desperation.

Good teams don't make huge changes like this for the playoffs. They make changes like this mid-season.

I hope this puts a chip on both their shoulders as we are going to need solid play from both Barber and Jones today.

He is the better back no doubt. Also, why do you think earlier in the season we struggled on offense? Because we had JJ in the game early and you didn't see Barber until the 3rd series. He should be fresh and ready to go!

Not wanting to wear him down before this all important stretch run.

I always thought they didn't start him and managed how many carries he got for this exact moment. Keep him fresh so we can ride him in the playoffs

What huge change? They have been splitting duty for two seasons. It's not like Barber hasn't seen the field and now we are pulling him off the bench.

Jones had his chances but keeps tripping over that tall blade of grass only he seems to find.:D

seriously, I hope we pound them with barber for three quarters then get JJ on the outside in the fourth. I have been saying this all week.

Its always been a mystery why JJ was not given more chances in the 4th when the D is worn out. With his speed he could easily out run a tired D.
I think the reason it was done now not last week is to make the Giants rethink the first part of the game. Anything you can do to mess up the other sides plans is usually to your advantage.

I didn't even know he was starting, sorry folks been way too busy with my jobs...darn it !!

Is JJ not playing or will they still be using a rotation ? I would guess he'll play some. Barber pounding and JJ as the 3rd down back would be kind of funny. Will they now use JJ outside more to take advantage of his speed ? Why he runs up the middle so much I could never figure out.

I would love to see Barber get 20 carries and 30 touch's. JJ 6 carries and 10 touch's.

We need our running games during the playoff's. We haven't had one in a month.

It means were done with JuJO and we are moving forward with a chip on our shoulders with a player that has vision, speed, desire, and doesnt fall down when touched. JuJos outburst on the sidelines against the skins sealed his fate.

Before yesterday, how many times had Lawrence Maroney started and received the overwhelming majority of the carries?

He and Romo share the same trait so they belong on the field together. It's called MOXIE.

Maybe Wade learned from his dad that it is not a good thing to run a RB into the ground like the way his dad did with Earl Campbell. Barber runs a lot like Earl, in the way that he likes to run people over. Earl has permanent problems from the way he was overused. :giants:
