Just trying to understand the anti-Jerry crowd here and what they are REALLY saying?

No emotions (if possible), just clarification. In which area is he holding us back?

A) Selecting the HC
B) Significantly undermining the HC he does hire (did he fail Wade?)
C) His hiring of personnel men & scouts (Ireland, Ciskowski, etc)
D) His final say in personnel matters

Just trying to understand the specific reasons that some believe this team "will never win" with Jerry as GM.

15 years of futility is not enough evidence for you?

I don't think it's a matter of "learning" anything, its a matter of personality. The head of personnel has to be the most innately grumpy, skeptical, hard to impress individual in the building, because he's given the task of brutally and honestly assessing the team. He should spend every waking moment looking for flaws on the team and how to upgrade each and every position if given the opportunity. He can't be blinded by visions of butterflies and rainbows and gumdrop fairies.

Take Alex Barron. A naturally skeptical person would say "If a 1-15 team is so desperate to get rid of him, there must be some real problems there. I might go ahead and make the deal since there is no cost involved, but I'm not depending or counting on this guy because he's most likely a bum". Jerry thinks "I just got a Top 20 pick talent and I got the highest paid big name offensive line coach in the NFL to work with him. I think we're set at Offensive Line. That Minnesota game was an aberration."

wow, lol..I literally just started the same thread..I don't get it either

Well it does not fall into the category of what he needs to learn.

This would fall into the category of what he has already learned and it was a very important lesson for him.

Getting a face life scares his grandchildren.
