What does Kenyon Coleman have to do with training wheels?

Parcells said some things in a press conference a few months ago that stuck with me.

He talked about the lack of really "big" men on defenses, those guys with the massive natural frames. Guys that are naturally big, not fat, that can keep their weight up all season. He said that they are a lot rarer than you think and are a premium in the NFL. Not all big guys are necessarily strong either, but apparently Coleman has developed good strength too.

I think this is one of the reasons Coleman remains on the team even if he isn't a big play guy. I have seen him at 2 camps and he is easily the biggest Dline guy we have. And he is very muscular, not fat. In addition to all this, you can't pay every guy multi-millions, so he is a veteran guy with good size and a bit of versatility that plays an excellent Backup Role on your team and is a very good part of a rotation, but not starter material on a very good defense. He's cheap value that doesn't make glaring mistakes even if he seems to underachieve when you look at his size/power genetic gifts.

He always seems to be on the bubble but Parcells never seriously thinks of cutting him despite all the successful draft picks at the position.

Good points. I was really surprised he made the team this year, but considering all our youth and inexperience he is a good guy to have around.
