I copied the below statement Mr Jones said about Romo

“So the change-up is how do we use him better? Have we maximized everything so that he is about to get it done? Those are the challenges we’ve got in the off-season.”
He’s all in, in other words. There is no Andrew Luck coming in the NFL Draft. There’s no free agent cavalry coming over the hill.

Do you folks have any specific examples of how coach Garrett can Utilize Romo skill set better in the game plans?

I read it as, "I'm not gonna spend many resources on getting a really good OL, so we need an offense that's predicated more on short passes than deeper, more vertical passes. If Jason doesn't do that, I'll find someone that will, because that's what all my external sources tell me I should do."

Simple: When you have a top 6-8 QB in the NFL, with some good players around him, going .500 is unacceptable.

Jerry may be crazy in a lot of ways, but he does remember the Stoerner/Leaf/Quincy/Hutch days.

Expect more no huddle this year...not just when they are losing by two TDs.
Romo is very good at orchestrating a no-huddle offense.

But for Romo and the offense to be effective, they must have complementary running game. It's very evident how much better they are when the offense is not on his shoulders ALL of the time. Plus, obviously, it would greatly help the redzone scoring.

The had a good run game in 2007 (espcially the fiorst 12 games or so) to go with that passing attack (that was better protected than most years) and the results were a very good redzone and overall offense. They've seen what they can do with a good line. They could be very tough to stop.

Romo is a mobile QB with one of, if not the fastest release in the game. Stop with the plays that take an eternity to develop and implement more plays that are DESIGNED for Romo to roll out. And, please, more no-huddle.

A better LG, C, RG, and RT would be a wonderful start.

As well as Smith actually playing like a top 15 pick.

Lebreton is a moron. Aside from that, perhaps Romo needs to be given more complete play calling authority, not merely the option of choosing between two plays allowed by Garrett.

Romo has been a top 10 finisher in passer ratings since 2007.

The players around him need to get better...end of story.

My translation:

"Romo and Garrett didn't always agree on how to run the offense."

"We're trying to sign Romo to contract; therefore, I promised that he would get his way. I'm going to say some stuff to the media to backup what I said in negotiations."

If the OLine isnt going to be improved.....JG needs to make Romo a moving target----planned roll outs with a pocket re-established. Use elements of the WCO etc.........keep the Def coor guessing at least to some extent.

To subject Romo to blitz after blitz as in the Commanders final game being able to adapt is gradeschool football. The 1st 5 teams we face in 2013 will use that same attack until we beat it consistently--the NFL is a copycat league.

Yep. Blitz up the middle and Romo is either sacked or throws a pick. Period. Not much of a mystery there. The Vikings playoff game laid that blueprint.

Attack the secondary. Be less predictable to the defense. Throw in Wrinkles formations. Get a strong Center so your 6'2 QB can have a pocket to step up in instead of running for his life.

that stat means nothing, romo's stats come from his ability to duck n dodge the pass rusher's that lets his target get open..that puts romo's stats off the charts..the lack of a run game and the lack of a play called to work as is designed not based on romo extending the play is the very reason the offense struggles in big games and can't win consistently enough..i cant understand why people dont see this..

The way we utilize him better is to get a damn offensive line. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady would look like David Carr behind our line. It is amazing we can win 4 games with our OL. Romo MAKES them look serviceable.:banghead:
