2 Cable networks are dedicating several hours to breakdown the upcoming NFL Schedule. (OK, one of them is the NFL network) but the fan interest is so high regarding the nfl that ESPN is taking two hours to talk about the Schedule! THE SCHEDULE!!!!!!!!!!

Man, that's something.

Imagine how boring it would be if they did that with MLB

I noticed it when they really started hyping the NFL draft about five years ago. Football is a 365-day sport now with 24 hour coverage, even in the offseason.

I just wish they'd cut out part of the preseason and make the season 18 games.

By the way, the MLB schedule would take about a week to breakdown.

Honestly, if they only would take one team and look at only one week, breaking down the MLB schedule would be pure boredom.

Man, there's Nothing like Football !!!!

I can remember the days when you had to wait for the Dallas Cowboy Weekly if you wanted any sort of real info on the draft. The local paper could get you names, dimensions, positions, College affiliation and round but that was pretty much it. Even before the USA today started reporting on a lot of this stuff. Heck, I remember being overseas and my parents would mail me a copy of DCW.

:)

Times have certainly changed.

Myself I enjoy the game of baseball, I enjoyed the years I spent playing it and I enjoy watching it but I admit because of the length of the season and amount of games it is hard to stay enthused over the course of the season. I do think the last month and playoffs are exciting but nothing like football. In football a team can't afford a long losing streak and expect to make the post-season in baseball and basketball you can.

It seemed like the draft really started getting hyped in Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnsons second year. That was the first war room cam shots that I recall seeing. Then it has really grown from there. The NFL is the sport to beat in the U.S. They don't do everything right, but they do it better than the rest of the sports.

To be fair to the other leagues how are you going to break down a 82 or 162 game schedule? You just would not do it.

I guess my point was that only the NFL could muster this kind of enthusiasm in America.

Football has totally overtaken Baseball as America's PastTime

I really don't like the NBA right now...this baseball season looks to be one of the most wide open ones in recent history. Should be a great season.

Some, including myself, would say that the NBA is the 5th or 6th fiddle

NFL, NHL, MLB, College Bball, PGA, European soccer would all come before the NBA in my eyes. It is THAT bad

You could say that, but that wouldnt make it true. the NBA has definitely lost some of its allure over the years, but it is still ahead right now of NHL and European soccer (had to be a joke, lol). MLB seems to be on the way down, so if it is ahead of the NBA, it cant be by much. I would rank it like this:

NFL
NCAA Football
NASCAR
MLB
NBA
NCAA BASKETBALL (only during march does it really move up the list)
National Underwater Basketweaving Championship
Curling
Equestrian
Poker
Bowling
Bass Fishing
NCA Cheerleading
NHL

Yeah ESPN is hyping their schedule and at the same time hating on us ""America's Team" makes its only appearance in Week 6, when the Dallas Cowboys visit Buffalo." They fail to mention we have 7 games nationally televised. Assuming we don't get flexed to death.

MNF looks really bad. Majority of their games would surely be local games at best.

and...I watch NASCAR everyday going to work.

I think your way off base on NCAA Basketball. I think it's probably NFL, College Football and then College Basketball. JMO but I think it's a lot more popular then you have it listed here.

I don't know if the NHL is at the bottom of the list, but they are not a popular sport. The die hard hockey fans sticks with them, but many did not even notice that there was a strike. They had a game 7 championship game, which should be one of the most exciting things in sports, but no one watched it. Just look at the ratings. They are behind football(pros and college), the NBA and MLB. They have poor leadership.

DING DING DING! We have a winner!

Gary Bettman is by far the worst commissioner in the major sports - and quite possibly the worst ever.
