How do we amazingly luck out by getting players like Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, and people want them gone/replaced...

Someone actually said they would trade Dez Bryant for a 1st round draft pick...

Those are the luckest draft/undrafted players we've got since the fall of the franchise...

(could have got Stephen Jackson too, which would have been extremely lucky).

A pro bowler is worth 1-2 first round draft picks, maybe even 3.

A hall of famer is worth 2-3 first round draft picks, maybe even 4.

All you can expect to get with a first round draft pick is a solid player, maybe a really good player. But when you get a player who is at the top 2 or 3 at their position in the conference... Especially when they're really young like Dez...

By the way you never give up a pro bowl quarterback, who is crushing franchise records... How often does that work out for you?

Plenty of history of Pro-Bowlers in this league being traded for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks. Depends on the player. A young pro-bowl player is obviously worth much more than a older veteran player.

Great example -- Marshal Faulk was traded to the Rams for a 2nd and a 5th pick -- at age 26.

People overvalue draft picks versus players in trades. People would be ecstatic if they drafted a player as good as Dez, the same age as he is now, with that new first rounder.

People are just so enamored with draft picks that they lose perspective on the fact that the purpose of draft picks is to acquire young talent. Thus, you don't give up young talent to get draft picks.

I would like for the Cowboys to consider trading players for picks , like the Patiots, before players decline to the point of not having any value. I don`t think that any player is good enough not to consider a trade if the value is there. Emotional attachment is not really a good thing when it comes to trading players. With that being said , some of these posts about player trades are insane.

Dez is already a proven FREAKISH talent and defenses gameplan for him.

Trade him for draft picks. Sure. Brilliant.
