Bob forgot the disclaimer,

*5 months before game one; INC, TBD all apply, Data points missing.

The lack of data we don't need the word, a so far POLL,  :oldcouple: :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

what we need to see is the roster that's built for the actual game one start to the season which is 5 months away.

B- or C+ actually.
But I went with B.

They did some good things. By not bringing back some players that they normally would have kept, and bringing back some players of their own. Need to keep that core of the roster together. Can't overhaul it all in one off season.

I like what they did with the trades, bringing in Gary for a 4th round draft pick, and sending Osa to SF for a 3rd round draft pick.
They brought in better players on defense in FA than the did in the past. But did not do enough there.

They kept the offense intact.

But I think they did slightly better than a C, which I almost chose. But went with B because bringing in Parker over Eberflus was a great move.
Not just that, but he was allowed to bring in his own coaches, and had a say so of any already here to keep.

Folks this team is on pace for its third season without a playoff. Holes all over the roster. An unserious HC. A $60 MM QB that is playing well but the rest of the team is hot garbage.

It's a F. Period.

You have maybe maybe 10 good HC coaches, most of those coaches are going to be "risks" and thats if they land on the perfect team, which no one has. SO lets do it, who did you want? which coach would have us sitting better? Which coach, because we all saw PArcells do it right? PArcells told Jerry, we re going to lift that Lombardi, that was a hot afternoon. Parcells himself came here and got nothing. So which coach would kick down the door, tell Jerry how its going to go and have us sitting better? Lets hear it.

No coach would but not a single team would have hired Shottenheimer. I doubt he would be a OC at this point. Decades in the league. About a dozen jobs. The guy sucks. Parcells built a team and culture and if moron Jerry didn't screw it up by hiring coach Cupcake they might win it in 2007. Parcell took over a dumpster fire and made the team relevant again in 4 years.

F

Jerry said it was time to break the bank. We're still waiting...... Until Jerry starts doing what he says he's going to do he gets an F. Stephen gets an automatic F for being an incompetent nepo brat.

Maybe he did break the bank. Just not the ones the fans wanted.

Parcells did NOT win, did not make a change in the needle. So even if you got a SB winning coach, or a low unheard of guy, the result is the same, Long live the Dallas Empire.

When people take someone's words without clearly defining them, that's on them. He didn’t say “all in,” he said “bust the budget.” I’m pretty sure that’s what he said, not “break the bank.” Think about it—every move they’ve made this year, going from about $60 million over the cap to getting back to even, they had to make just to get there. They’ve made several moves that could be considered breaking the budget, robbing Peter to pay Paul, just to reach their current position. And with more moves to come, they’ll do the same thing. If they have to find creative ways to get money for another player, that’s technically, by definition, busting the budget.

I’ve said before, with this redundancy from old Bob, there’d be no argument from anyone if they had landed Max Crosby and Dean—we’d be in a much better spot, talking about something else entirely. Those are two high-priced free agents or trade targets, and while it didn’t work out, they made legitimate offers—real offers, no lowballing.

They tried hard, and despite hearing all this talk about effort not being enough, it actually is, because it shows their philosophy has changed. They were willing to pay the asking price or more, and they’ve been aggressive in other trade pursuits for Queen, Brooks, and others I can’t even recall. They’re picking up the phone, staying aggressive—it just hasn’t worked yet. They’re willing to bust the budget; they just haven’t landed their targets. They’re pivoting, they’ll keep pivoting, and I believe, given the attempts they’ve already made, they’re not done.

They will make a move for a defensive player after the draft or during the draft not the draft but for a trade..

Judging a team five months before game one is like a car company repossessing your car while you’re still current on payments, just assuming you won’t finish paying the last few months.

That’s how it feels to me, and it seems like a lot of people are using the past to judge the present. But the roster isn’t complete yet, and we should evaluate it once it’s fully built.

So far, the signs are promising, though I could be wrong — let’s revisit this in August. Based on what’s happened so far, I think they’re even more motivated to get things done, but like every other team, they’ve been in a holding pattern for weeks leading up to the draft. No big moves have been made, and with names like Clowney still out there for linebacker and pass rush help, nothing’s off the table. There’s no reason to keep reassessing the offseason every few weeks when it’s still a work in progress.

Keep a bookmark take notes. come see me,

if they don't end up filling enough holes with the proper players when we're heading into game one then let's talk about how they didn't do enough.

I don’t see why we need to judge the offseason when there are still five months left, meaning more is ahead than has passed and there’s plenty of time for them to make moves. It’s like when I’ve been putting off buying something for a while, and when I finally go to get it, it’s unavailable—suddenly I’m more determined, and it becomes a mission to find it at any cost. Also, can we not have this same discussion every three weeks? Nothing has changed in that time. I could dig up all the posts from Bob and others saying this offseason feels like the same old story, and it still does. At this point, we’re in a holding pattern; they haven’t done enough, and there are still plenty of holes. We’re a week away from the draft, and after that, more moves will happen once they know what their real needs are.

How dare the fans wanting championships over missing the playoffs half the time and doing nothing more than 'hang around the rim' the rest of the time.
How could I not realize that none of them are actually listening? They’re not reading this, so no matter how much you stomp your feet or throw a tantrum, nothing’s going to change. The only thing you can control is yourself, your attitude, and how you use this space—whether for therapy or venting. I get it, but if all you’re going to do is bring up the 30-year drought and the lack of championships, maybe it’s time to find a different place to hang out or another team to support. Nothing’s going to change with the Jones family; whether Jerry passes away, retires, or hires a GM, they’ll be involved with the Cowboys for a long time unless something drastic happens. It’s the same with the Raiders—nothing really changed when Al passed away, and his family still owns the team. What have they accomplished since then?

This is an understandable situation; we know what’s been happening and what will keep happening. The only thing we can control is how we react to it. If it’s really that big of a problem, I just sit back thinking some people must have other priorities than worrying about things that aren’t all that important, especially when it comes to sports. We all know it’s going to continue, yet some still go through all this and don’t expect others to point out that the Dallas Cowboys aren’t life-or-death. Some of us are more passionate than others, but it’s not that serious. If you can choose whether to follow this team and it bothers you enough to vent multiple times a day about the same five things you dislike, copying and pasting the same points, it just seems like reopening the same wound every time—like Bob repeatedly bringing up the same subject.

Some of us come here out of passion for our team, and we’re tired of the constant whining and complaining.

So yes, we’ll give the same energy back.

And sure, you might respond with, “Don’t complain about the complainers,” but honestly, I wouldn’t have to if we didn’t constantly see such a negative fan base out of touch with reality.

If this is what it is, what it’s been, and what it will be, then maybe it’s time to change teams or hobbies.

Every fan base dreams of a Super Bowl win every year, but that’s not how it works. You should want it so badly that when it finally happens, it’s extra special. I get it—we want another win. We’ve had a taste, but it was taken away.

Other teams have endured long droughts: the Eagles waited 56 years for their first championship; the Chiefs had a similar gap before winning another Super Bowl.

Teams in other sports have gone even longer. I don’t care about playoff comparisons. I’m also a fan of the Rangers, Stars, and Mavericks—not with the same passion—but those three teams have just three championships combined in their entire histories. And yet, because it’s been 30 years since the Cowboys’ last title, fans keep using the same old narrative. Yeah, it sucks, but it is what it is. We’ll get another one someday.

That was not what I was saying.
Fans want to sign all these high dollar FA's but when they do, they claim they paid too much.
Not everything and every player that fans want is going to go their way. then they get hurt because it did not happen.

Fan A wants Player X
Fan B wants Player Y
Fan C wants player Z

Then Fan B gets mad they signed Player Z, Fan A gets mad when the sign Player Y, Fan C gets mad when the sign Player X
Then no one is happy.
All 3 get mad when to do not sign any of them, and sign Player W. But other fans are happy.

No matter how much money they throw, not everyone will be happy or agree.

We all want a deep playoff run and to win a SB. Because getting to a SB then losing. Fans will not be satisfied. Which that is ok fans should be upset to get that far then not win.

Parcells turned around a perpetual 5-11 disaster and made the playoffs with Quincy freaking Carter as his starting QB. That was the last coaching miracle in the NFL. Of course, Jerry derailed it. He already got what he wanted - the new stadium deal.

He's being contrarian on purpose to piss people off. It's his gimmick.

No one is saying that, nor does anyone even think it's a realistic possibility. What detractors want to see is a front office that actually tries to improve year after year. I'm not seeing it and haven't seen it for many years. When was the last time Jerry landed a major free agent signing? When was the last time he even tried? Has it been in the last 25 years? It isn't like he hasn't had the chance, he gets that opportunity for it every off season.

You picked option B - good for you. I won't berate you for viewing everything through rose colored glasses. You could at least be fair and not berate or belittle anyone who isn't viewing the Jerry crap show the same way you do.

I think he fancies himself as Rockport 2.0. But instead of ignoring site rules like Rocky does he tip-toes along the edge.

This isn’t a gimmick, and I hate to break it to you, but this is just who I am—straightforward, direct, and speaking the truth. I’m only dealing in facts. You’re judging this team based on the past, but over the last two years, they’ve been working harder, putting in more effort, and not lowballing players. The trade and free agent offers have been serious top offers; they just haven’t landed them yet. The fact that some trades and signings haven’t worked out still shows they’re willing to pick up the phone and make fair deals. We’ve got five months to prove this year could finally pay off, at least in building a better roster. It’s too early to dismiss that effort, and if you think I’m just trying to stir things up, you don’t get it—I’m being real. Honestly, this effort has been better than in years past.
We're not talking about them lowballing and losing out because they didn't offer enough and they just wanted to appease the fans by saying hey look we tried that is not how it has been feeling the last two off seasons but so far since the trade deadline last year and now they have done more with real offers real effort picking up the phone being aggressive they just been turned down to this point but that doesn't mean they won't keep trying once it resumes after the draft and they have five months to prove you wrong or prove me right i'm not saying I'm right no I'm not in your face for shock value this is who I am..

We were sitting at a bar talking about the Cowboys, and it’d be the same thing anywhere. If you get upset, that’s on you—I can’t control your emotions. I’m not trying to get under your skin; this is just who I am, and I’ll always be this way. If the season goes south or they didn’t do enough, I’ll say it. But you can’t make that call five months before game one—we won’t really know what the roster looks like until about a week before the season starts. Last year, a week before the season, did the Green Bay Packers think they’d be suiting up Micah Parsons? I don’t think the fans knew, nobody did. The Cowboys thought they’d keep him, but that changed—and something like that could happen to us too, just in the opposite direction.

Don’t say it can’t happen—they’ve traded for players before, and if needed after the draft, I believe they’ll keep pushing to land another defender or two through trades or from the free agent list, which hasn’t changed in the last three weeks. How is that me trying to get under your skin? I’m not Rockport, I’m just speaking the truth. I’m sorry if being reasonable and honest—because the truth is you have to wait and see before judging the offseason.

By the way, I have most of the people I don’t enjoy engaging with in these drama-filled confrontations on ignore so I don’t have to deal with it. I prefer not to get involved, but every once in a while something triggers me. It’s the same repetitive stuff happening over and over, like Bob constantly poking at you—he’s gaslighting you, and it’s working. He’s keeping this site buzzing with energy, and while some act like they don’t enjoy it, they actually do, just like Jerry—you love the drama. Lol.

I did not berate anyone.

That’s not what I do at all—this is just who I am.

I’ve already responded to your buddy. I usually avoid confrontation, but sometimes I see something, I’m in that mood, and when things get repetitive and people keep hammering away, I’ll respond in kind. Using talk-to-text, I can ramble for sure, and I can get riled up.

I know some people might find it funny, but put me on a sports talk show with a round table—three or four of us debating with Stephen A. Smith—and I could hold my own.

These guys have their jobs for good reasons, but some of us share that same passion and knowledge about sports. It comes from the inside because we truly care.

I know enough about the NFL and other sports to argue with the best of them. I’m not bragging—this is just my personality. I prefer peace over confrontation, but if I feel the need to speak up, I will. This is me, not whoever you think “Rockport” is. I can’t judge him since I don’t know him or why he does what he does, or if he’s trying to make people mad on purpose. But this is who I am and always will be, and I won’t change just because some people don’t like my responses.

I was just thinking it’d be funny, like when they had that contest and Jesse Holly, I think, ended up winning a shot to get into the NFL. I’d love to get on one of those shows—any of them, I don’t care which—and have just one week to prove myself. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d love a chance to argue with those guys at a sports round table. I’ve seen some of those shows, and honestly, there are too many people on there who don’t even belong. I bet I could do a better job. LOL

I did not berate anyone.
Don't think either of us do especially me I can only speak for myself I don't do it on purpose i'm just speaking from the heart and sometimes I go overboard.

II think they still think the stuff that maybe Rockport and others might do whether it's on the homer versus hater label that people go overboard and they're just trying to get a reaction hot sports a opinion so you know the HSO...IE Old Skool flam wars in the early days of chat rooms and SM..
