What guys that nobody expects will we draft this year?

Yeah, I know, if we mention them here they wouldn't be unexpected. ;)

But I mean that a lot of years we draft several guys who almost nobody talks about. Even with all the players discussed and the hundreds of mock drafts posted, few people expected Brewster or Butler or B-Will or Deangelo Smith or guys like Alan Ball.

Part of that IMO is because of the herd mentality where certain players get talked about over and over and people just repeat the same things, and part is the overemphasis on measurables.

So I thought it might be fun to try to come up with some out-of-the-box ideas for players who are under the radar but would make good pros.

It has to be a OLB, no names as of yet.

OLB? I could see a ILB this year but not an outside guy. They already got BWill and Butler last year in the fourth and then picked up Curtis Johnson. Now a 4-3 OLB that can project inside okay.

I think he just meant guys that aren't getting a lot of pub that the Cowboys could end up drafting anyway.

Here's a name . . . .

Weatherspoon the LB.

While he plays OLB, he has been projected to play ILB in a 34 defense.

Also, the reports say that he has very good coverage abilities as well.

The other out of the box type of player could be a CB who is also physical.

That way, either Ball is moved to FS, or the draft pick plays in the "Star" position.

EDIT: Let me throw a name at CB out there . . . . K Wilson. He may be regarded as the best player available by the Cowboys' staff at 27 as well.

Finally, two other names . . . a 34 DE like A Carrington and Price from UCLA.

A QB?

That would be a shocker.

Someone like Skelton or Crompton in the 7th perhaps.

Also, returner Leroy Vann is a guy that hasn't been mentioned.

His Pro Day is March 13th I believe.

He's one of my pet cats.

Michael Hoomanawanui, Illinois TE. I know nothing about him. But his name is awesome.

I love me some Weatherspoon; have for years. Would love to see him as a 3-4 ILB for us.

Brandon Sharpe of Texas Tech

This guy is better then Brandon Williams IMO. He was almost unblockable at times. He's unknown, but he had a lot of sacks, 14 or so last year, and he missed a couple of games.

Chances are it could be yet another guy that basically nobody has heard of from some small school.

Kind of hard to predict who it would be because most have never heard of them.

Kind of like a crayton or hatcher.

One of those players that you scratch your head and say...WHO? This of course happens right after people are chanting this or that players name in chat or at the tv screen.:laugh2:

Golden Tate or Brandon Graham. Either could be there at 27.

Weatherspoon is a first rnder. We wont go LB at first round.

Has to be OL or FS. I could be wrong though.

Not out of the box and people have heard of him, but Vladimir Ducasse.

Yes, I know people who know some people who robbed some people.

Witherspoon would not be a surprise, imo. He seems to be rising and is a great athlete with a super motor and attitude.
