What happened to Bledsoe?

I know everybody is going to say that he is a statue and holds on to the ball and takes a lot of sacks, but something was seriously missing in his game that wasn't missing last year. He seemed to lock onto Glenn more and I even saw him stare down his receiver. I haven't seen him do this in a long time. I had assumed that Owens, Crayton, Witten, and Fasano just were not getting open, but Romo hasn't had any problems completing passes to them. I also don't remember that many complete meltdowns by Bledsoe where 3-4 interceptions were thrown.

Bledsoe might not have been great last year, but he was absolutely horrible this year. He did a much better job last year of spreading the ball around to Glenn, Johnson, and Witten. A lot of us thought he was injured in the Jags game, because his throws were so far off. Is he now officially washed up?

You could see it at times last year.

I think they have said it best that he was beginning to look at the pass rush rather than the field.

I honestly believe that most of Drews issues centered around not seeing what the D was doing. He didn't see where the blitz was coming from, he couldn't see the whole feild in the pocket, he didn't trust his decision making ability. I also think this effected the O LINE and their protection schemes. I don't know if he had a concussion earlier in the Season from the Minny game or if he just lost his confidence. but either way, it was the right move switching QBs.

I think he received a career-ending concussion in week 4 of the preseason against Minnesota. He looked very sharp prior to that game. Afterwards he hit a downward spiral and just looked dumbstruck.

Bottom line is that eventually a player's talent will fade, and like with life, they lose the edge that comes with being younger and more enthusiastic.

Bledsoe seemed to be going through the motions to me, relying more on familiarity and experience than on passion and enthusiasm. There has to be a mix of both, and I think the scales started tipping the wrong way with Bledsoe.

The Cowboys go out and GET Drew Bledsoe a #1 playmaking WR.... and Drew's concern is that he feels he has to get him the ball and THATS a problem?

TO
could have/
should have/
would have/
been Bledsoe's best friend. Drew blew it!

The "pressure to get the ball to TO" excuse is bogus. That had only a minor effect on Bledsoe, if at all. This is a tabloid level excuse.

I agree...he hasnt been the same since that game...I've been saying it all year...he either had a really bad concussion or perhaps his back really was injured, as speculated...either way, he is probably done

Do concussion have an effect on someone's past???

Drew has been the same QB since he started 13-14 years ago.... a few good game and then a few bad games... this year he has been about winning against bad teams and losing to good teams

Talent is something like "ability" though. It wasn't like Bledsoe didn't have the arm or suddently got brain damaged or something. He just wasn't playing well, not seeing the field or making good decisions. Maybe he was starting to see the rush, plus too much pressure from Parcells not to make mistakes lest he lose the job to Romo...

Maybe it was Romo's breath hot on his neck.

Don't you think there's a reason for that? You think he decided on purpose to stink it up and lose his job?

The reason is... he is just a stats guy with a great arm that can play well some of the time... his great arm will never be teamed with a great mind... he makes poor ROOKIE like decisions STILL.

He lost his job to Brady.
He lost his job to Losman.
He lost his job to Romo.

Need more?

Bledsoe was clearly worse this year than last year. You may not have liked him as a QB last year, but he didn't lock onto receivers or have 3 and 4 interception games. He was also decent at spreading the football around. He clearly lost something this year.
