I love how the homers spent the whole offseason defending this front office not doing anything because “good teams build through the draft”.

Now all of a sudden these same posters are in and out of multiple threads saying “this is how teams get better, by acquiring talent through trades”.

LMAO.......so which is it homers, building through the draft or trading away high picks for talent? Or does it even matter, y’all just cheer for the laundry no matter what?

They are thinking that he is better than any 1st round WR. And WR is what we planned on getting in the first round. I know some of the fans or a lot of the fans wanted us to get a QB. But the FO is riding with Dak.

its called FO Knee Jerk reaction. We did it twice. it failed twice. its about to fail a 3rd time.

Nothing happened. The Cowboys used one pick to get a 3rd year WR that they think is better than any WR they could get next April.

I don't see any evidence the Cowboys threw 'building the team through the draft' out the window.

Yeah I don't want Josh Doctson either or someone of that caliber.

I keep wondering what the fan reaction would be if the Eagles got Cooper for a first. I have a feeling it would be, see they're actually doing something at the trade deadline to improve
We do it and get the response, "what a bunch of idiots in the FO".

Well the Eagles werent dumb enough to panic and give up a first.........

The best part? I have zero doubt if the Eagles had done it, you’d have laughed at them and called them dumb.

What in the world is OP going on about?

Doesn’t even make sense.

The FO made a “splash” trade that they think can improve the team.
Why does this mean that the “build through the draft” mentality has to be thrown out the window?

Making a trade now = we don’t build through the draft? Wut.

Traded a future #1DP for a talented but inconsistent 4th-year player.

If a change of coaching system and teammates gets AC back to playing at the level of his first two seasons, the trade will be seen as a good move. If that doesn’t happen — and quickly — serious doubts will be loudly raised and the torches and pitchforks will come out.

This was a gambler’s move; a swing for the fences that reaffirms exactly who’s in charge of this team. Wildcatter Jones is back!

The risk is, by trading a probable mid-teens first-rounder we might find that, by the time the 2019 draft rolls around, circumstances may have changed enough so that this pick coulda been potentially more useful otherwise (in the draft itself, or packaged in a trade), as the team moves forward.

Like seemingly everything else with this team, we gotta wait and see.

The Process continues...

Looking at most of their top players were guys they drafted. So I think the Cowboys have pretty much built through the draft. You can still go out and get a player here or there like the eagles did.

Its both.

We have built this team through the draft, that is obvious. We are filling a huge hole with a young, talented player.

We still have a lot of picks and who is to say we don't trade for more picks somehow before the draft?

You are making up a argument against no one. Who said they didn't want trades?

Straw man always easiest to “win” arguments against

You always need to make some sort of trade. This team is essentially all built via the draft
