What Happened to Cowboys Fans?

I was talking to a young Cowboys fan last night at the bar. I mentioned being a fan through the rough times makes it all pay off when we win it all like when we went 1-15. He nearly passed out and questioned if I was telling him the truth. I thought he was going to die when I told him Troy, Emmitt and Irvin were on the team and Jimmy was the coach.

Millennials, god love 'em

The older crowd is trolled way too easily

The younger half of the fanbase would be clamoring for Mr. Potato Head to be HC with just a single post from Kendall Jenner on Instagram saying that he's got the greatest football mind she's ever known.

Hum, well I'll blame it on 23+ years of a nothing burger, AND those stinking millennials! When you truly have nothing to fall back on, I mean what history can a new young fan actually have but the word of the media? Most fans today have never seen this team do squat but roll off losse's and good players.
I've watched this team get to multiple superbowls, the older fans are still here and the same. The fans that came along in the late 90's have nothing to compare to and only listen to the media.

I seriously don’t understand this definition of Cowboy fans sucking?

I’ve been attending Cowboy games since the 60’s in the Cotton Bowl. And I’ve attended about a dozen opponents venues and I’d argue our fans are some of the most sobered dedicated professional white collared fans in the league.

Using a anonymous fan forum to measure the pulse of Cowboys Nation is short sighted. Most fans here have probably never even attended a game or less than a handful and probably don’t watch all of the games on TV.

The only Cowboy fans they know are mostly from this type of Social Media which we can’t even be sure if everyone here is a Cowboy fan. And why these type of observations are mostly absurd.
The sales force of Goldman Sachs is having a field trip.

I wouldn't make any assumptions about most of the fans here as that slope gets mighty slippery. As you will note, I excluded the fans here as we all know it is them not us.

I do believe the Cowboys do have the largest fanbase that is exclusive as I have met too many that only watch the Cowboys. It is not about football; it is about the Cowboys playing football.

This isn't a problem exclusive to the Dallas Cowboys.

Wait until the mass protests, looting, freeway barricades and endless lawsuits in New England when their entitled millennial fans have to suffer through the injustice of a losing season. Mass hysteria without a safe space to be found.

Since when? To me the Cowboys fan base has always been the most clueless on the planet.

Any fan base that would hate Romo is completely clueless. And many did it for 10 years straight. Any fan base that would support the horrid Garrett is clueless. Some have done it for 12 years.

Jerry and Garrett should have been run out of town by now. In places with less success like Philly or NY the fans even have higher standards. Heck I lived in Tampa Bay and even those fans were buying billboard space by the stadium to run bad coaches out of town.
Don't forget how we treated Dandy Don.

I’m not even sure what that means? I’m not interested in fans who only watch the Cowboys. Those aren’t fans I know.

And I’d never use the fans on these sites as a measurement . I use all of the family, friends and acquaintances and any locals I can personally identify.

To me the biggest difference is many Cowboy fans are casual fans. They’re only interested when we’re having success. And don’t have much basic knowledge besides the passing fan.

As someone who has lived in New England for almost 40 years, I can tell you that before Brady and Belichick came along, they didn't pay much attention to football here.
