What happened to Dak?

We wouldn't have beat Atlanta or New England, so this notion that Romo would have come in and won the super bowl is fantasy. ATL would have lit our defense up, just like Aaron Rodgers did.

Where was all this talk of Dez being done in the Green Bay playoff game? The Detroit game?

But you and others are the type of fan that thinks if the WR doesnt have 5-yards of separation, he isnt open.
 
Nothing is wrong with Dak. This is who he was, this is who he will be. He requires ideal conditions to function: 1) solid Oline 2) solid running back 3) top tier receiver 4) stout Defense. Under these circumstances, any QB can find success.
Hate to say this, Kirk Cousins has done so much more, with so much less.
Stop making excuses for this guy.

This is the truth. And I like Dak. But he is way too inaccurate on simple throws to convince me he is the long term answer.
 
Look at the difference in sacks of Dak last year as compared to this year. Looking out of your helmut ear hole constantly will seriously mess you ability to play at a high level. I think at the beginning of the year Zeke was out of shape and our line had 2 new starters. More fell on Dak's shoulders. Then we lost our left tackle and Dak was really getting pounded because Zeke was gone. I think assuming we can get the line stabilized Dak should be better next year. There is no doubt at 23 years old he is still more of a bus driver then a one man force who can lead the team based on talent alone. If we have everything around him next year and he struggles mightily then we will know he's probably not that guy. Last year was the perfect storm of being really good on offense and having a very marginal defense. Now the Offense had regressed while the defense has gotten a bit better. I can see why Jerry won't fire the mad clapper. From his view, the mad clapper probably did a pretty good job based on what happened around him. I do think we need a innovative O coordinator bad. I think Linehan will be the sacrificial lamb once the season is over.
 
Romo has to be chuckling a bit sitting at home, or in the booth watching this play out. I am kind of laughing at all this, "it's the oline", It the WR's, "It's the coaching" crap. That was the most pitiful QB play I have seen since Weeden and Cassel. Tim Tebow would have played better!

Don't be surprised to see Dez hitting the bricks this offseason.
 
The Cowboys were playing some excellent football the first half of the season. At one point they scored 13 straight TDs in the Red Zone. The Atlanta game was the turning point. Chaz Green was so bad at Left Tackle that Dak was being harassed on every single play. He hasn't been the same since. But make no mistake before that game Dak was playing at a very high level.

And that would be a massive mistake
 
1. Biggest weapon gone for nearly half the season. And it came right when we were hitting our groove. Up until that point, Dak was just fine.
2. Losing Free/Leary was a big deal. Green/Bell/Collins are terrible replacements. We thought we could just plug and play.
3. Tyron Smith is on the decline. Even when healthy, he just isn't the same. His career is not going to last much longer. OL play as a whole was very bad this year.
4. Coaching coaching coaching. Dak has no coaching support. All the coaches around the league now have a full year of tape on him and a whole offseason to scheme. But Dak had no one in his corner to handle their adjustments.
5. WRs were god awful this year. No speed, drops, no separation. Another year of our most reliable target being a guy who has slightly better moves than a corpse (Witten). It's getting real old. Dak had no real windows to throw into. Defenders were draped all over our guys.
6. He tried to start doing too much to over compensate. He became careless with the ball. We did not see that at all last year. Although he did make some big passes but were not picked off due to drops. But they were picked this year.

He needs a new coaching staff. See Goff and the Rams. They got rid of Fisher and his toxic staff. Now look at that team.

Guys talk about how great Zeke is, then they wonder why the QB struggles when he is out.

Its pretty simple stuff. Once Zeke was out NOBODY respected the run game. So they all turned their attention to Dak and the passing game. Play action, which had become a staple for Dak and the offense no longer worked. Then they start dissecting the tendencies of Dak. He loved to go to Beasley and Witten in key situations. He was NOT on the same page with Dez. So defenses doubled and took away Beasley and Witten. So he was left to do what? Throw to Dez and Williams? Poor percentages. And Dez is rarely open.

And now you have to factor in the other variables. Instead if being 3rd and short, we are now in 3rd and long situations. Dak isnt used to that and now they are teeing off on the pass rush and taking away his security blankets.

Then you throw in the Oline injuries and personnel changes.

Then on top of that throw in the coaching staff and their inability to "make adjustments" or "next man up, dont do anything different, dont help out Chaz Greem stupidity and it gets worse.

Now you throw in the fact that Dak is only a 2nd year QB coming off a season where nothing ever went wrong, he was pressing and you have the perfect storm for a bad season for a young QB. Dak took his lumps this year. In reality, this was the rookie season he never had to go through last year.

Wentz had adversity last year and lots of it. He got a chance to learn from the hardships. Dak had smooth sailing. Was able to sneak up on people and had an easy schedule.

NOT this year. Anything and everything went wrong and he had to learn and deal with it.
