What happened to Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams?

Was looking at our new RB squad and they say Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams are getting most of the first-team snaps, and I remember both of those guys having some big plays against us not that long ago. Was looking at Sanders numbers, and he put up some impressive stuff for Philly only to fall flat his last 2 years in Carolina. He never had a 100 yard game against us and seems like the Boys could usually shut down whatever was making Philly click but was it injuries, or just a bad team with the Panthers that derailed his career? Javonte looks like he was never the same after the injury his sophomore year. Just wondering what are the odds we signed one of those running backs that still has a good year in them, and no one realized it.

In NFL free agency, especially with skill position players like RBs coming off serious injuries, it is a low percentage gamble to expect them to be outstanding.

Could Williams or Sanders have a year where they make a big impact here? Sure. But the percentage chances of either being a great pickup are low.

I don’t mind having those guys on the team. What I believe is a mistake is thinking Williams and Sanders plus some Day 3 draft picks are going to make an outstanding committee.

We hope so. But as we say all the time around here, “Hope is not a strategy”. It’s a longshot.

Williams is 2 years clean from his injury, so the hope is he can return to form.

I was never a big Sanders fan, but he can hit big holes if they're there. He's just not a make-something-out-of-nothing guy and his vision is not the best. He's a Demarco Murray comp for me. He also played for the worst OL in Carolina.

It's all going to be about the OL in the end.

This set of running backs are capable of carrying the running load and the passing attack is capable of pushing any defense to the level of pushing for the NFC East.

I have a little less conviction now, but still predict the RB group as:

Williams
Blue
Mafah
Luepke

It's possible that Sanders pushes Mafah to the PS though, and a more remote chance that Mafah makes Luepke redundant.

We will probably pick up another vet via trade or after cut down day. I doubt we go into the season with the RB group as it is right now.

I don't think Sanders was ever anything special. He was part of a committee in a very good scheme and Carolina overrated him.

Williams I don't think was special, either. Maybe he was a little more talented, but he also had that bad knee injury, and Sean Payton couldn't wait to get rid of him.

As usual, we shopped at the dented/damaged bargain bin and got what we paid for.

He wa done 3 yrs ago. Dowdle made him look like a snail. Way to slow to the los.

Me too. But we was near the bottom in YPC and that’s why we couldn’t still to the run. If we can just got to avg we should be able to run more. Just another half yard per carry gets you from near the bottom to the middle of the league. More attempts at a half yard better and your offende is better. No one expects us the have an elite rushing attack but we have to get to Atleast an avg rushing attack

Exactly.........not one of our RBs would start for 31 other teams. I'm not convinced they are done adding to the room. May keep an eye on final cuts.......

RB is clearly the weak link on the offense and I expect us to have a poor rushing attack.

It is really unfortunate but none of this group is close to being an NFL RB1 and, honestly, I’m not sure any of them are high quality RB2.
