The Newman that didnt give up the big plays? After Bill Parcells second season Newman barely ever gave up big plays or touchdowns? This year he's played one good game...

Newman's issue has always been he cannot locate the ball in the air. Coverage is usually good but he never turns his head and looks for the damn ball.

Jenkins in the little time we have seen him is better in my mind. Seriously, when is the last time u have seen a Cowboys DB actually break up a long pass down the seam. That pass was destined to be completed but Jenkins reached out and slapped it away. On Newman that pass is completed because he never would have been looking for the ball.

I'm warming up to Jenkins. He and OScan will make us proud as we move beyond the Wade Phillips era.

Thats horrible press coverage by Newman. No wonder you don't see him press the receivers much.

Who cares? It's football, you can't complain about every no call. I'm as big a Newman fan as there is, but he got beat. There should be no complaining. That doesn't mean he's a bad corner, he just needs to make that play next time.

Toasty has played one good game this year (Carolina) and that was with safety help over the top.

Jenkins is clearly the best CB on this team.

The fact is that Newman was held and he was still in perfect position to make that play. Someone said he doesn't turn to look for the ball. Well he did that time. Both he and Marshall turned and jumped at the same time for the ball, and Newman played it perfectly. It was simply a matter of size.

Brandon Marshall has a good six inches on Newman, and he won the contest for that ball simply because of that. It was not bad play by Newman, it was simply a bigger body making the play.

Newman has always played not to get beat by giving receivers plenty of cushion. He's given up alot of underneath routes. Now that they have him in press coverage in an attempt to get turnovers receivers run right by him. He's never had good ball skills and he's never been a playmaker. Right now he looks no faster than a 4.5 guy and needs help covering fast receivers. He's only a slightly better than average corner right now. Marshall made Newman look like a chump last Sunday.

I'm fine with that. I'm just getting tired of people whining about the no call. It's football. It's a physical game.

But yeah, Newman got beat, but he's still a good corner. Brandon Marshall made a great play. Newman didn't have his feet under him completely though and that's why he couldn't jump high enough to knock the ball down.

Jenkins has passed Toasty as the team's best DB, it is not even close.

How'd Jenkins do covering Dante Rosario last week?

Newman is still the team's best corner by far. There's a reason it was Newman, not Jenkins, who shadowed Steve Smith last week. And no, he did not have safety help all of the time. Newman also shut down Marshall until that last play this week -- and he had good coverage on the despite what happened at the line of scrimmage.

Newman has given up a few plays so far, but he's been in position every time. If he keeps playing the way he has, the results will start to improve.

I remember Jenkins running stride for stride with the Bronco reciver and at the last moment knocking the ball away for what would have been an easy TD.

I remember Newman giving up the winning TD.

The difference between the two is while both players were in postion to make a play, only one actually did. So when you say Newman has given up a few plays but he is in position, thats means jack. You either make the play or you dont.

I am sure you have all these stats that show I am wrong, but the bottom line is Jenkins is remembered for making a play against the Broncos and Newman is remembered for giving up a play against the Broncos.

And that makes Jenkins better than Newman? Please. You wouldn't find a single NFL coach who would take Jenkins over Newman for a game this week.

You're not serious about that, are you ? The long ball was always Newmans problem.

Newman sucks

And the sooner the blind koolaid drinking homers pull their heads out of Jerry's sandy butt and notice the better.

If we had kept Jacques Reeves we would probably be the undefeated reigning Superbowl champs right now.

And thats a FACT.

This is crazy. The other teams get paid too. The WR made a good play right there. The real issue on that play was the poor tackling IMO. It was not the fact the Newman didn't make the play. Yeah, it would have been nice to make the play but the truth is that Orton made a good throw to his #1 WR who just happens to be 6-4 230. Newman had good position and even made a good play considering the fact that he was trailing of the line from the get go. I mean, if I had to make a negative comment on Newman, it would be that he didn't get a good chuck off the line. He didn't break Marshalls pattern. Marshall got a good release off the line and got into his route with no real problems. Newman did a good job of getting back into position but, at the end of the day, Newman is 5-11 188 lbs. Marshall is much bigger and on that play it showed. The real issue IMO is the piss poor tackling after the catch. There is no way that should have been a TD. Once again, Hamlin is in position to make a tackle but he doesn't get it done. I mean, the effort put forth on that play by Hamlin is worthless IMO. He doesn't even try to get into his body. He just makes a weak attempt to arm tackle. That wont get it done but nobody is talking about this. Instead, we're all talking about Newman not making the pick on a ball that he never had his hands on.
