What happened?

Okay so I thought I could step away for a few day watch the game again and ***** what went wrong... I was wrong! Everything seemed to unravel in the 2nd Qrt right? Wrong. If you watch the game again we were playing a great game in the 1st. We were driving the ball our Defense was forcing them to kick we were getting good field position... So what happened?
Well I have to look at that 4th and 1 play. Why do you put the ball on the foot of Shaun Missem? By doing this have done 3 things.
1. Told your offense that you have no faith in them to pick up a yard.
2. Deflate a team that was playing sound football by coming away with nothing.
3. Give the Vikings good field position.
This was the beginning of the end.. You have to have the guts in win or go home type games to play for the win and not just to stay in the game. When you play a high powered offense you want to keep them off the field as much as possible. I dont think wade has it in him to make these calls. He is a defensive minded coach and will always believe that his D can make the stop and force the out. Obviously that wont happen every time but Wade likes to play field position battles.
Could this team had made a yard? Of course...
Once we were down things just got worst. We tried to run the ball way to much on the best run stop defense for the last 3 years. When it is becoming a barn burner you have to play their game. When your playing a team who is VERY bad against the pass then you pass. You dont play to their strength... You play to their weakness. This team can make big plays we saw lots of them in 07.
I think that the 4th and 1 play killed our Offense. The Oline seemed to lose steam they were playing with no heart after that.
After Wade took the ball out of Tonys hands it set the pace in Tonys head. He felt as though he had to make all the plays and get first downs or every drive would end with a missed field goal. That put him in panic mode it took the heart from the line and things went down hill.
Whos fault was this loss? The teams. But the 4th and 1 play started the downward spiral.
You have to give your QB the chance. You have to put faith in the hands of your franchise QB.
Now if we had a Kicker who was hot and who was 100% like Faulk last year or Akers then okay it is understandable but in a game of this magnitude a game where it is win or go home... You hurt your team by making this call.
Then we have to look at the TD to rice. Why was sensy on him all alone? Man coverage with a safety on their best WR does not make sense to me... No bump at the line, not help over the top.
It seemed to me every time the announcer said here comes the blitz the Vikings had a huge gain or a TD. All year the defenses strength was not having to blitz. Being able to rely on the front four to get pressure and allowing the CBs to bump at the line with help over the top if they did get beat.
I think they tried to get to cute with the D this week.
Go back and watch the game. Look at the Line after that deflating missed field goal on 4th and 1. Listen every time the announcer says here is the blitz.
They over game planed and didnt trust the offense to make the plays.
Also why do you pick 1st and goal to try the razor back out?
The players did not lose this game for us. Tony romo did not lose the game. If anything they were over compensating for the play calling that was going on.

I'm not doing your whole post credit here with this singularly focused reply, but your argument is one reason why I don't really pin this game on Suisham at all.

It's been said by others here too, but it's not like he missed chip shots. He barely missed a pair of near 50-yard attempts. You're not going to win many games when you can't penetrate any deeper than the absolute edge of your kicker's range.

It shouldnt be pinned on Suisham... I dont think he was given a chance. He was thrown to the wolves. He never should have been on the field to begin with.

We lost the game from the end of the eagle game with all the media saying the cowboys were the best team in the league. Then we lost it from the coaches not having the team more prepared for the vikings front line, garrett should have been more creative with rollouts and screens. Then we lost when we won the toss and elected to take the ball. Then we gave minnesota momentum from romo's first of many mistakes. I know there are alot of fans that would like to keep the coaching staff in place but winning one playoof game doesn't exercise all the demons from this team.

Definitely can't pin anything on Shuisam. We know what we got when we hired him. The fault lays with Wade for allowing two 45+ yard field goal attempts in ridiculous situations.
