I know everyone is tired of TO threads, but I'm bored so I'm putting another one out there.

Much has been discussed about the relationship between TO and the Tuna and many here, including myself, believe everything will turn out OK, but what happens when Parcells starts giving TO some 'motivators' via press conferences like he has done with past players? How will handle being referred to as 'She'?

I think Parcells is what TO needs and everything will turn out OK, but given TOs sensitivity, how he will handle some of Parcells mind games is a little concerning to me?

As long as Bill doesn't promise to wear TO's spandex pants if he scores some number of TD's this season, we'll be OK.

Yes...Thank You Roy Williams for breaking Owens leg and saving us from having to see Reid in tights...we would all have been scarred for life.

I don't think Bill would say something, in a PC as a motivational tool, about TO that would tick off TO right now.

He uses different methods to get players to do better. It is not always calling someone she or something that people may consider in a negative manner.

I think bill learns what motivates different types of players.

I think he has even talked about this. How different methods are used for different players.

Some respond to negative type statements others don't.

Now in practice, during the game or in the office he may be more blunt with TO an not sugar coat anything. May even cuss at him or something.

However I think he will use other ploys in public.

Actually so far he answered so many questions about it and after that just refused to talk about it.

I'm not sure TO is going to need any motivation this season. He has so much to prove already, I doubt BP needs to say anything. Any issues with TO are going revolve around his mouth and the locker room. BP's methods to deal with that do not involve public speaking. He is going to have to deal with TO and an unhappy Greg Ellis this season. We'll see how he does.

I think that's a given.

Parcells ability to get into a players head and figure out what makes him tick certainly gives me more hope for avoiding something like this. No doubt the stuff he says while at the podium is well thought out and potential results have been calculated.

umm.. maybe its just too early in the morning, but I dont get your signature.. if Demarcus Ware is the PainKiller, wouldnt that mean that he is taking away the pain? like he is tylenol for opposing quarterbacks? wouldnt it make more sense if he was like the PainBringer or the PainMaker?

That's probably the best guess right now. Given Owens' history, he has always performed at a high level and doesn't take plays off (a la Randy Moss).

The only motivational 'tips' which Parcells may throw at Owens during games will be for him to keep himself in check. Parcells is the ultimate time of possession head coach and abhors any penalties that interrupt or kill offensive drives, putting the offense in poor field position, etc.

During gametime, that's the only real concern Parcells has to worry about with Owens. His receiving abilities are unquestionable. It's his knack for attention grabbing stunts (which the refs will be watching VERY closely this season) that is always a question mark.

Agree completely.

BP will find the best way to motivate T.O.

Just be glad Dave Campo isn't the coach now.

He would be asking Owens for his autograph.

:laugh2:

For all his years in the league, Campo did always seem to be the awestruck type.

I highly doubt Parcells would do anything like that to TO unless he felt TO would respond well to it. Thing is, the 'she' comment had to have been an inside joke. No way do you go around saying stuff like that about players unless they are ready for it.

I read parts of the TO book and it is pretty clear that TO did his part in being disruptive but they definitely kept a lid on things Donovan said and did.

If you read the end of the book where Jerry had a talk with Owens on the plane and related to him..... TO's response was he felt like a part of the Cowboys family and Jerry was like a father figure....

I am going with the positives... I think TO and Cowboys will be fine... and we sign him to a new contract in a few years.....
