My big thing is limit the third-down conversions.

As a fan, it becomes demoralizing watching this defense play the way it has been lately. I can only imagine what it's like being on the sidelines.

It's steadily declined to the point where you just expect the opponent to convert every third down. It started with New Orleans and seems to have gotten progressively worse every week.

I think if you get the opponent off the field a little more often and more quickly, we'd suddenly see an improved and rejuvenated defensive performance.

Though I'd like to see improved pressure, I'm trying to keep my happiness scale realistic. I don't see how that will magically improve. But I do think it's conceivable to occasionally get teams off the field on 3rd and 7.

1. Get consistent pass rush and record at least a couple of sacks
2. Shutdown the flat in the passing game
3. Hold Seattle to a low 3rd Down Conversion % - 30% or less
4. Do not give up any big pass plays
5. Hold Seattle to less than 100 yds rushing
6. Hold Seattle to FG attempts
7. Wear out the Seattle punter's leg

You know this is the Cowboys defense we are talking about, right?;)

That's the ticket Dale. Get some three and outs. If I were a coach right now I would consider every series on our side of the field four down territory. We had good pressure against Detroit but the break downs in the secondary need to stop. The half blitz by the LBs need to stop also.

Unfortunately, I think our problems are very real and no matter what happens in Seattle, we've got serious problems to address on defense.

Good job Bill.

Our elite playes should not be beat by their no-names. If Walter Jones blocks DeMarcus Ware...fine, but if Ware gets matched up from time to time with mid tier players, I want him to win those matchups.

Newman should not be schooled by any of these WRs.

Roy Williams must lay the wood and OFTEN.

Shaun Alexander should be rendered a non-factor

None....and I repeat....None of these WRs should get behind our defense. It just should not happen

I expect to force TOs and get pressure on the QB (if they become sacks then fine)...on obvious passing downs

GET OFF THE FIELD ON 3rd down
