What I expect we do in FA in a couple of weeks

is pick up 1 defensive lineman, 1 ILB, and a back-up QB.

I think on our DL, both Canty and Tank are gone.

We take 1 DL in the Draft to compensate for one of the two departures, and we pick up 1 guy in FA.

I think that both Burnett and Z Thomas are most likely gone as well. Again, we pick up one veteran to replace/compete against Carpenter (shouldn't be too hard), and we pick up one other guy in the Draft.

With those 3 positions taken care of in FA (including back-up QB), JJ is in a position to draft another Safety, take a couple of OL, CB, and move up a bit in the Draft, esp in the middle rounds.

I'm not sure we need to do much more than this in FA this off-season.

He is an injury liability and will be paid too much for his contribution on the field. Good guy, but since his days at Rocky Top... he gets hurt too much. Let him and sign a true 3-4 ILB, stud ILB or let Barbie play.

I expect us to pick up some B-list FA's to help fill in some vacant positions. I'd really like us to pick up Leigh Bodden or Jabari Greer for insurance for Newman and the rest of our DB's. I have a feeling that we are going to have another strong draft, with a majority of those draft picks contributing.

there's a good chance both Canty & Burnett are back. That was a good draft in 2005 and since that's how team's front office's are judged, Jerry will want to keep that intact.
