What I hope gets accomplished in this draft

Regarding DT 3T: Hill is garbage and wasting another year and roster spot on him is a waste. 3T is a key position on the defense so if you have 2 starters like Gallimore and Levi or Nixon you are much better able to pressure the QB.

Regarding LB: totally agree with you that it is a need and I absolutely want to move on from both Jaylon and LVE next year. LBs can be had in rds 4–5 like Browning or Werner or Rice who can rotate this year and start next year. If we are not able to land any of them (or even if we do) KJ Wright is out there who could be a huge asset to the team

my point is that we always fall in love with one player and dont remember that defense is about talent but also about scheme, gap discipline and effort. Defense requires a team and this is a much better option than getting one above average starter in Horn and try to reach for lollipops and rainbows after that

I'm ok w all of that. Only difference is I'm not wasting 44 on another Gallimore..don't see a big enough upgrade there..but im just nitpicking here..in general, the defense needs a lot..it needs beef, it needs toughness, it needs attitude, and it needs to tackle way better...one player isn't doing all of those things..

10 picks, in which we have 4 inside the top 100:

-I want 2 at minimum day 1, plug and play impact starters, where a third is apart of our DL rotation as a rookie. This isn't too difficult when we are picking in the top 10 every rd.

-Early focus on the secondary, then load up on the front 7. I would like to see the first 2 or 3 picks spent on corner and safety, then load up on front 7 players. NT, an inside/outside player better then Crawford or an Edge rusher. I see 3 elite Free Safeties, might have to overdraft to get Holland.

-Add numbers to the linebacker positional group. We are well aware of the uncertainty after this season. Lve's option might not be picked up, it is easier to release Jaylon after this season cap wise and Neal is just playing on a 1 yr contract. Add 1 top 100 pick, 2 on day 3 with one being a hybrid.

-Find a developmental tackle

Not trying to pigeon hole any position for a particular slot and fully aware a) not all needs will be address and b) they aren't going to take a full defensive class, less 1 offensive lineman.

-CB/S day 1 starters
-Future starter at NT, part of the rotation yr 1
-Depth at both linebacker/defensive line
-Developmental future starting Tackle
Considering what they have in the secondary, 2 starters is realistic. Unless they take Parsons, I don't see a challenger to the LBs but the rotation on the DL could be improved.

I think they take 2 OL, 1 RB and 1 WR.

I hope we get a corner, 1 tech, LB with attitude and a ballhawking FS

1. Surtain
2. Mcneil
3. Bolton
4. Cisco

the problem with this philosophy that “we might have to reach a little” is that you don’t know that you should have reached until the player gets taken and then it’s too late. Holland might get taken in rd 2 then what? If Holland is falling falling and we think ok he will fall to us and he gets taken at 68 or 70 or even 74 how can you predict that? You can’t . You have to take your FS in rd 1 or 2, can’t wait on a prayer until rd 3 which is exactly what we will do
A quality Free Safety is such a scarce position, where many teams usually are forced to reach a little to fill the need. Usually Free Safeties fly off the board at the start of rd 2, outside of the very elite ones who go in the top 10.

If they take a high linebacker, he has a chance to start over Neal, who would play some linebacker and safety. CB, S and DL rotational player make the most sense.
