What i learned after Miami game

This is such a tough game to assess. Were mistakes made? Yes. But scrutinize any team in any game the way you scrutinize the Cowboys and you will find mistakes made.

My questions are, what happened to the offense after the 1st two drives? I saw Miami blitz more and get more pressure on Dak, but why didn't they take advantage of those blitzes at some point? Somebody had to get open somewhere when 2 guys are taken out of coverage to rush the QB.

Why did Dak stop throwing to CeeDee after the 1st quarter? Did Miami do something different? Was Dak under too much duress to find him?

I can't really fault the defense for holding Miami to 5 FGs and 1 TD. On the road that was a pretty good performance against the top offense in the league playing at home. But at the same time at the end of the game when they knew Miami was going to run to kill the clock, they could not stop the run. Of course if the refs call some of the holding Miami was doing, that drive ends quicker and maybe with less success. We will never know. Still. The Cowboys gave up points late in the half and late in the game. Would like to see that stop. This defense still lives and dies on turnovers. Again, they had none.

There is definitely something wrong with this offense on the road. I think they need to run the ball more. This was a close game and the Cowboys handed it off to the RBs only 14 times. Sure they run those reverse and sweeps to WRs but that is more trickery than a running game. I find it hard to believe other teams are loading the box against Dallas. So why are they so frugal with hand offs? There are two schools of thought when playing high scoring teams. 1 is to get into a shootout and hope to keep up with them. The other is to slow the game down, run the ball, and play keep-away. I have no idea what the Cowboys strategy was, but I think they did not run the ball enough. The run the ball poorly because they can't get into a rhythm.

I have been calling for Luepke to get more carries all season. What happened yesterday was inexcusable. But maybe if they had been handing it off to Luepke all season this fumble would not have happened at such an inopportune time. I think Luepke was so shocked he was getting the ball he forget to get the ball! I just hope they continue to feed him in short yardage situations because I think he can be effective. Only he knows why he lost that handoff. But I don't think that will be a long term problem.

The Cowboys were missing 3 key starters on defense yesterday. Diggs, LVE and Hankins. They have managed to get along without Diggs, although they could use his INTs every now and then. LVE is not much of an upgrade over Clark, but I think he is an upgrade. The Big loss was Hankins, especially late in the game when they were running the ball up the middle. Hankins knows how to occupy blockers and keep them off the LBs and safeties. Maybe he would have forced the Dolphins into throwing the ball for a first down. Maybe that stops the clock. Of course every team has injuries. The Dolphins had backups in the game on their OL - although those backups were holding a lot and not getting called.

The Cowboys were also missing Tyron Smith and it really hurt them. Tyron does not make the mental mistakes Edoga made yesterday. Letting Chubb come free unblocked multiple times was a huge fail. I think we all know Tyron does not let that happen. I have no idea what Edoga was thinking.
My problem was that fins were missing all those oline and we couldn’t get pressure. Quinn can not make in game adjustments. No excuse to not stop the run all day. Or come after tua. I think I saw 1 sack…

How did Dak play. What little I saw seemed like he had no time to throw and they didn’t call designed roll outs for him again.

1)the NFL is a corrupt organization and officials are participating in the corruption
2)the Cowboys have no run game
3)the Cowboys cannot stop the run
4)Mike McCarthy will be fired at seasons end (he is an idiot, always misses good challenges, poor clock management, cannot discipline and has not control)
5)Dak will be sent packing
6)subset of 4, this is an undisciplined team and poorly coached team
7)the Cowboys will not even win the first round in the playoffs
1. True but more than likely for many more reasons your trying to insinuate

2. True, and it's baffling why

3. True to a degree, but until Bills game they'd not allowed a 100 yard rusher. Work to be done here for sure

4. Doubtful but always possible

5. No he won't

6. If you mean penalties that issue goes further than the current team.
.

7. How did you learn this from a 2 point loss in Miami against a team that averages 31 points a game held to just one TD and 22 points? Please be specific and show your work.

Didn't you just saw you didn't see the game, and are describing your problem with it?

Miami rushed for 91 yards on 26 attempts for a 3.5 ypc average against the Cowboys.

For the year, Miami has rushed for 136 yards per game at 5.0 ypc.

Why is everyone giving the D a pass? They been under performing the pass 3-4 games. Besides all the stupidness this team has going on. The offense still put up the points to win.

Yes. I did not see the game. I was surprised though that with the missing oline that we didn’t go after tua. The last play I saw we had finally got to him. Play seemed strange how fast we got to him. Like he never dropped back..

You must have been living under a rock for the last seven years if you are only recently learning that Dallas can't stop the run.

I didn’t get to see much of the game but was surprised it was even close. We are in the playoffs and no longer care. Now we will win out most likely but will be one and done in playoffs. This is the same team. At least with MM it’s been consistent. Lol.
Win out? Dallas will not beat Detroit.

1) Conspiracy theories are rarely true.
4) Don't take your frustration of players' ineptitude out on the coach. MM isn't perfect, but who is?
.
Other points you make are either true or could happen.

I mean, im not a big fan of MM. But man, I really cant put this on him. If anything DQ should be on the fire seat.
Fat boy is an idiot. This team is undisciplined in penalties and mistakes. fat boy is the worst in clock management and challenges. fat boy can not get this team Up for big games. What more do you need to see?

Jerry won’t fire Mike or get rid of Dak. Mike has the Jason Garrett golden ticket.

I learned that 2 weeks ago there were a lot of people taking victory laps, ignoring all the red flags and caveats in a rush to crown Dak as MVP.

Lot of alking about what a great job the FO had done, MM coach of the year, and calling out anyone that pointed to those red flags as miserable naysayers that would regret it when we won it all because we hadn't enjoyed the ride the same way as the true fans...

So...does this team "just feel different" to y'all now?

I have been very critical of Dak. I wanted him gone last year. I wanted him gone earlier in the season. But he has made significant improvements, so much so that in don't see how we don't give him another contract. I think he is finally starting to understand the game. Yesterday was not on Dak. The oline failed miserably. He had no time. Also we had two drives start inside our 5. Those were wasted possession especially when you LT don't want to block.

Defense did well holding the dolphins to 22 and only one TD, especially with Tyreek Hill. We had to play the different because the dolphinsnare an extremely fast team with Waddle, Hill, and Achane.

If you think MM is going anywhere you are crazy. You don't fire a winning coach.

We need a LT, RB, LB and WR next year. Although WR is not too bad with cooks starting to emerge a bit.
