I think this team is going to limp along. MM's scheme doesn't wow me, its predictable and 5 games into the season we are not going to see a big turn around. It doesn't fit the players. add to that Dak is not fit for this offense, and given he is not elite he is going to struggle. the WRs and TEs are struggling in getting separation and seem confused. top that with a running game that's struggling with a RB that was never RB1 in college nor pros and now we see why.

the defense IMHO has been figured out. take out Parsons and the rest of the defense is below average. Gilmore, although slightly better than Brown, is not great and struggles against certain routes and we are going to see team pick on him more. the run defense is atrocious.

Jerry pushed the first panic button. strange that MM decided this week to spend day and night at the facility to try and figure out. I bet Jerry gave him an earful. we will sin a few. lose a few and good chance missing the playoffs as the schedule is not going to ease up.

but, Jerry dug himself a hole. he doesn't like to lose money, so he is not going to cut Dak this offseason no matter how loud you scream. he won't let MM go, because he will owe him money. he held on to Garrett until his contract ran out. he knew the end result. so he will make a few token moves. generate hope as he always does. generate some buzz. sell tickets. sell jerseys. and go through 24.

then if it all blows up as it probably might. then he will move on, probably to Lance. half the fandom will rejoice, as all their hopes will be on Lance. some will declare here comes cowboys greatness. he will hire a young coach. maybe someone out of college. he will generate hope, yet again. and he will go cha ching, which is what jerry does. this is the most valuable franchise for a reason. this is the most profitable franchise for a reason. jerry is the ultimate salesman and we, or most fall for it. because we are Cowboys fans.

is this a doom and gloom comment? no. is this an overreaction to SF loss? again. no.
after 5 games I have seen enough to know what we have. and I have seen this very same story for the past 28 years. before Dak and people taking sides arguing, there was Romo and before Romo somebody else and it has been a continuous failure. that's why I will not buy any cowboys merchandise, go to the game. Jerry ain't get anything from me. but I am a 2% most probably

tell me I am lying?

The issue with the Offense can be fixed with better schemes to get the receivers open early and often. The Oline has to do a much better job. When your starting 5 Oline can only muster 57 yards rushing and over 1/3rd of your pass plays have your QB under pressure from the hike of the football, you're not going to succeed no matter who you have at QB, RB and WR. Period. The coaching staff has been outcoached by opposing coaches. The coaching staff needs to fix this issue, get after it and create better schemes while creating a more disciplined and accountable atmosphere. The same goes for the Defense. It can be fixed but it starts with the coaching staff.

You're not lying. Bad ownership, bad coaching and mediocre players adds up to frustration and failure.

A very popular choice with fans. I agree totally. It’s not working. And it’s not just one person.

Bwahahaha. I'm taking one game at a time.
I'm with ya GMO, that's about all we can do, and after that SF game I have no clue what to expect in that Chargers game, let alone the tough teams we still have on our schedule after that.
Like you said, "one game at a time."
I'm waiting now to see if the Cowboys will be able to rebuild a little bit of our confidence in them with this Charger game.

The defense hasn’t been figured out that’s ridiculous.

If we put points on the board and force opposing offense to be more 1 dimensional then it’s over for them. That includes the 49ers.

Our only real weakness is mobile QBs who can keep their eyes downfield.

Now if for some stupid reason Parsons goes back to MLB then the defense is done.

You’re leaving out one massive piece. If we fail to make the playoffs and Dak wants a 50-55 million APY extension then Jerry will face a difficult decision. If this was Dak’s first year in the massive contract then I would say you’re right, Dak isn’t going anywhere. But next year Dak will count 60 million against the cap. His play has been average to below average. If this average to below average play continues and we don’t make the playoffs then Jerry has to decide to give Dak another massive extension or part ways with him. Knowing the massive extension could make signing Micah difficult.

So the biggest question is if Dak plays at the same level all season does Jerry sign him to 50-55 APY or make a June 1 designation. IMO if Jerry were to sign Dak to a 55 APY extension it would be the worst move he’s made as a GM. Because Dak needs the defense to carry him and our roster would not be as strong and Dak has shown he can’t elevate the players around him. That would be investing in one of your weakest links. Jerry is a business man overall and I’m hoping he sees that investing in your weakest employee is not a good business model.

If any fans not only rejoice if Lance starts, but also think we'll achieve greatness as a result, one of the following must be true. Dementia, delirium, intoxication, recently struck by lightning, or are a Lance family member.

One of two things will happen after the season. Dak gets an extension, or Dak is a June 1st cut. There are no other options.

The Cowboys are like Clark W Griswald and company. Take, for example, the Griswald family X-mas. Clark puts a lot of lights on his house, overloads the one non-grounded electrical outlet with light plug-ins, and can't figure out why the lights won't turn on when he does the final plug-in. But, the answer was there the whole time. The electrical outlet was turned off and on by a wall switch. So, why didn't Clark know this? Has he not been in that room and used that wall switch a hundred times before? Can he really plead ignorance?

Then, go on 105.3 The Fan the following Tuesday after a "big game" and explain to us all what went wrong in a pleasant tone to get us to buy into how everything will be great. When, in fact, behind the scenes:

pJX7TX5.gif

In the end, we're just waiting for it all to come together just one time! You think it will work just this one time. This is it! Then, it doesn't and we repeat the same thing all over again.

We just got to enjoy the ride. Jerry is our Clark. And, Stephen is our Eddie.

One day...it will all come together and it will be glorious.

At least, that's what we have to tell ourselves while we enjoy our "Jelly of the Month" club membership every year as a consolation prize.

Trey Lance could come in and do a decent job. Why is the delusional. I don’t think any of us have any idea what he’s capable of or not capable of.

I mean it's clear Jerry doesn't like firing coaches unless the wheels come off and the easiest way to try to correct the course is to fire, a la Wade. But that was also to install his prodigy in Garrett.

I always believed the sound bite on Dak were just that when it came to contract extensions this year. Sure, they would like to keep Dak around, but I think they always wanted to see some type of growth/improved play from him before re-signing him this year. The choke point was always going to be next offseason to either re-sign him or ride out the last year for "freedom" in 2025.

Who knows what the FO is thinking, but I'm sure in their mind they see that they acquired Cooks(1,00 yard receiver in Houston of all places) and then have a healthier Gallup, Tolbert and CDL at WR. Ferguson and a recent pick in Schoon at TE and a healthy as can be Oline.
Maybe they'll shift the blame to McCarthy for rocking the OC boat, or maybe they see the blame on both.

FWIW, Dak has no guarantees left in 2024, so Jerry wouldn't be losing any money by cutting him. It's just dead cap, which doesn't come out of the owners pocket unless there was still guaranteed base/bonuses. If he wanted to save the most money, cut/trade Dak, have a monster dead cap hit that impacts the cap but not his wallet.

with a RB that was never RB1 in college nor pros and now we see why.
not fair to pollard, last year he was # 1 rb for a brief time and he was good, but when a player gets a broken ankle,
they dont come back just like they were, they have lost muscle and strength and it will take x amount of time to get back to where he was.

jerry and many fans think injured players, once healed up are the same, but they are not. They cant exercise when the leg is broken , and while it is healing.
The leg has to heal first then they can start building it back up, but it cant be done quickly.
