What I want to see versus the Jets

First and foremost - a consistent, devastating pass rush. I'm not just talking about 3 down linemen and Greg Ellis being stonewalled and DeMarcus Ware coming to play. I'm talking about a rush off both ends, Spencer getting involved, our interior backers getting upfield when we call the inside blitz, and if we bring a DB - get there.

Why is this important?

It's not so much important for the Jets. Let's be honest, we're gonna demolish this sham of a team.

But Brett Favre will eat our secondary, and our aggressive safeties in particular, alive next Thursday if we don't get this established.

I've been paying attention to Brett Favre these past few weeks, and the things he is doing with his eyes and his pump fakes to DBs and LBs in coverage is unbelievable. He is moving the coverage to a spot with his eyes, pump faking them out of position and consistently hitting wide open receivers over the middle of the field. The Packers are one of the few teams with the personnel to spread the Cowboys out (even though the myth that Favre never has anyone to throw to continues) and if we don't work on a consistent pass rush at Favre from all angles, he'll destroy us in a shootout. His pass pro has been outstanding, and so has he.

In other news, Julius Jones will be a Seahawk next year. Book it.

Not worried about Favre for now. One step at a time.

The Jet game isn't a gimme either. This is the time of year we start to falter in the past.

We also need to re-establish our running game.

Don't expect a blow-out of the Jets. If we're looking ahead at the ***** Packers, then we may be looking at another Bills ambush.

Cowboys 17
Jets 13

Close game.

I'm not too worried about the passrush. While this was easily our worst game passrush wise since the first Giants game, over the past month it's been fantastic.

And I think we did get quite a bit of pressure on Campbell, but he was very impressive at standing tall in the pocket and getting the pass away quickly and still taking the hit. I'd bet we registered 20+ QB hits in the game.

The Jets beat the Steelers yesterday ..... the Same Steelers that many football analyst put ahead of us in the Power rankings.

I do not think the Boys will look past them like they did Washington.

That's true. Hopefully Ware isn't wearing down. If he is, we need to spell him earlier in the game.

This is also true. But who in the NFL is better than Favre at doing that? (The bolded part)

Also, re: the Jets beating the Steelers....the Steelers also lost to Arizona and Denver. Can you say O-ver-rate-ed? Don't worry about the Jets. If Romo can keep from throwing 5 INTs and our special teams aren't garbage, this game is a mortal lock.

I happen to think that is a perfect destinationt, only thing is going to be what is he looking for, cause they cant pay to big salaries to running backs.

I also think the jets are going to spread us out, and attack. I dont think we kill them by any means.

As far as favre goes I think the packers and lions have the ability to spread us out and throw it all over the lot. We are going to have to play better special teams to pin them down and maybe make them run it a little more and of course strip balls are bat a ball up in the air and make a pick somewhere.

Favre has plenty of weapons. Jennings, driver, martin, lee, koren robinson....more than enough. they have a line that pass blocks better than anyone we have played outside of the pats and favre always pushes the ball downfield which is our kryptonite.

You think so? I think think our passrush was pretty bad yesterday. Campbell played good and Moss played his best game of the year. I think if we got the pressure we did against Philly and NYFG Campbell wouldn't have thrown for so many yards.

Arizona is playing pretty well right now, they are going to make it interesting for the last wc spot and the west. Seattle may have a problem on their hands.

Totally different approaches by the philly line and washingtons line. Washington max protects all the time, they had portis helping samuels most of the day pass blocking ware and when he wasnt mike sellers was....Ware was still pushing the pile...

Also a necessity. If we can't run it versus the Jets, there's something really wrong.

Like it or not, the lack of a consistent running game was a huge part of our downfall last year. We couldn't take the pressure off of our awful defense. If that continues this year, we better pray Tony Romo continues playing like a greek god.

Ditto, the Jets are last in rushing defense and our running game has really fallen off as the season has gone on. We will need to run the ball in December and inthe playoffs. I know Garrett is leans on the passing game to attack and score but he will need to get the rushing game going to beat the Pack and beyond. If we can't run against the Jets then that is a bad omen for any bad weather game or playoff game we find ourselves in.

Bottom line: we're going to have to outscore the packers. Yeah, I know go ahead an call me Nostradamus, but this is going to be a 48-45 type game: unless the Pack defense has improved as much as I've been hearing, in which case..........we'll just have to see. Very nervous after yesterday though.
