What, if anything, would you do or give up for a SB win?

Actually, I take that back. I'd give up Risen's posting abilities and large monetary donations to Fisher.

Nothing. As much as I like to watch the Cowboys play and win, it's just a game. I have no involvement and it's just entertainment.

During the Lenten season, I have given up meat, beer, liquor, all alcohol.....I have gone to the gym and worked out everyday for 40 days straight....How many of us have prayed and said, If you just let me have this, I will do this????
What would you do? I'd be willing to give up Beef and alcohol until the draft!!

0 I gave at the office.....

yeah man...i used to scream, break things, get totally drunk and get so mad i was not fun to be around...now i make it more about getting the kids in their jerseys and having fun food....
I was so bad that one time I overheard my wife tell my younger son that if he did that one more time, he'd have to watch the Cowboys game with Dad this Sunday.

And I would try to be good, promise her that I'd not yell, launch the remote and not try and get in the Guinness Record Book with the longest string of connected cuss words in history if she'd sit there and watch the game with me. She seldom made it past the Q1. I told her she was just looking for an excuse to go shopping.

I've mentioned that I own the air speed record for a remote control but the entire story is a funny one, if you were my wife. I lost it during a game and launched it at the pillow at the end of the other sofa but I was too high and too strong, overthrew the pillow and the remote self destructed against the built in shelves. I thought I was alone in the family room, I was not. I got up to go get the remote and I had that feeling, you know that feeling, "SHE is watching". Sure enough, she came out of the kitchen and was just standing there, saying nothing and that was the loudest nothing I ever heard.

I had to call Sony and order a new remote and pay expedited shipping charges and do without a remote but I thought I was safe because we weren't TV watchers but SHE had a plan. She said "let's watch some TV" right after dinner, which was the first time I ever heard those words out of her mouth. She grabs a glass of wine and plops down on the sofa and asks me to turn on the TV. It was becoming clear, I was to be the remote as long as we sat there and she must have asked me 10 times to see what's on the other channels. I was being taught a lesson and it was one that needed to be learned. I was no fun to be around watching a game. I was a poor loser and not much of a better winner.

I used to be a "watch to see them win" fan, which really isn't a fan. Now, I am a "watch the to see them play" fan and while I do miss that adrenaline rush and BP soaring to stroke levels, I am a much better fan now because after some real self deliberation I realized I became a fan, an exclusive fan, during a loss in the Ice Bowl. I needed to get that back into it and my ego attached to a team out of it. That took time but today I am proud to say I am a fully recovered maniacal rabid cuss monster.

great story my friend....i too have calmed myself because i want my children to enjoy the expereince, not be scared to watch it with me.

I think i am a bit younger than you, given that i wasnt even alive for the first 2 superbowl wins, but we share a common view in trying to enjoy the game as part of our lifes entertainment, as opposed to looking at it as part of our life's value...I too went through deliberation in my early 30's and realized that there were much better things to spend emotional energy on and now as a father of 3, i get much more joy out of the experince with the children than i do the end product of the game. I know if they ever won a superbowl again i am sure it would be incredible to see, but it would be special in a different way becuase i would enjoy it with my kids.

I'm trying to give up alcohol for good. Maybe doing so as a sacrifice to the football gods is workable?! Lemme think about it. ;)
