Albeit an unlikely scenerio what if Malcolm Brown and Danny Shelton are both there at 27?

They are the 3rd and 4th ranked DT's on Mayocks board. Although that means nothing.

Everyone was surprised when Floyd dropped to our pick 2 years ago.

In this unlikely case, who would you prefer?

Brown is more flexible, I want want someone who could slot in as a 3 tech if Crawford is hurt.

No way in the world would I pass on Shelton. If Hayden is enough of a pass rushing 1 tech then Shelton should work just fine for Rod. He's got a shot to be something special in any defense imo

But I would be ok with either

Now that we have hardy and Crawford and RoMac in the middle, the biggest deficiencies on this defense IMO are a 1T that can take on double teams and still provide pressure and a true FS

Danny Shelton born to play 1 tech in 4-3 not a pass rusher similar to Brandon Williams on Ravens, multi gap run stuffer rare talent plays quick mans game.

Malcom Brown, was DE at times, plays quick mans game more than strongmans, has some bend and burst strong hands. Inside pass rusher, can play multi gap defense.

Either pick makes this defense better, similar to the Ro McClain effect last year IMO.

Shelton>Brown

If Shelton drops to #27 then teams found a problem with him that the public was unaware of. If the problem is that significant then the Cowboys would probably pass also.

The issue is that Shelton is an option for any team and any scheme; whereas Brown is only a fit with certain teams/schemes. Brown is a not a 3-4 NT and probably not a 3-4 DE with his lack of length. He's probably not really a 4-3 1tech in some schemes as he has more 3tech qualities; however, he would a fit as a 1tech in Marinelli's scheme.

I actually am not in love with either of these guys. Granted I just started watching tape last week. But based on what I've seen, I like Jordan Phillips quite a bit more than both.

Shelton will make our LBs look All Pro and help collapse pocket from the middle. I be running up the podium with my 5.4 speed.

Haha yeah. If Shelton falls that far there's something horribly wrong.

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Shelton and I fire the guy who turns in the draft card if I think he didn't give 100 percent effort sprinting up to the podium.

Brown, all day and twice on Thursday ! Even if Shelton is slightly higher rated, brown fits our team - and more importantly our DC - way more. Brown in the middle playing both 3 and 1 tech is the dream scenario for me ...

Shelton and its not even close................but as others have said, if he is sitting there at 27 then the league knows something they are not sharing.

Shelton will bust. No idea why he's even rated as a first rounder. Brown would be a great pickup. He can play 1 or 3 tech.

I feel like your the first person that I've seen who agrees with me.

I've watched his film. He's a big guy who sometimes collapses the pocket, but very often he gets stood up by just one guy.

How is that possible? A guy his size should never be blocked by just one guy.

And I really don't like his measurables.

I just don't see it with this guy.
